Wolves - Lakers - Mavs

Post#1 » by MN Die Hard » Fri Jan 18, 2008 8:38 pm

WOLVES OUT: Jaric, Doleac, Gomes OR Craig Smith (Lakers' choice)
WOLVES IN: Kwame

LAKERS OUT: Kwame
LAKERS IN: Dampier, Gomes OR Craig Smith (Lakers' choice)

MAVS OUT: Dampier
MAVS IN: Jaric, Doleac

The Wolves use Smith or Gomes to turn Jaric into an expiring.

Lakers take on a long contract but add a center who can produce a near 10-10 while Bynum is out; it doesnt sound like anyone is real happy with Kwame. In exchange for taking on the dollars, they add either Smith or Gomes, either of whom would be useful on a contender.

Mavs dump Dampier's long expensive contract for Jaric's cheaper one (saving $11.5 million over the next three years and another $11.5 on the lux). They also add Doleac as an emergency center.

I have a feeling both LA and Dallas will hate this but what the hell.

Dampier is a big part of Dallas' team salary aside

Dampier's last year is not guaranteed, so there goes most of the reason you have for the deal.

And regardless, the Mavs aren't going to trade a starter for two guys who will never get off the bench.

We've got no reason to dump anyone except maybe Hassell.

For the last time, we don't want to trade/"dump" Dampier. We like what he provides, and we want to keep him.

Damp's contract may be enormous. But he's a big part of the Mavs game plan. His statistics is dropping but his contribution is on the rise. He's the reason why AJ won't ever give Diop a chance to get on the floor.

The Lakers is not going to trade Kwame for Damp. You cannot lure them to trade Kwame with Gomez and Craig Smith because they're loaded at the forward spot.

this trade does not help the mavericks in any way. Damp, for all of his faults, provides a valuable niche for the mavs on Offense and O Rebounding. He also tries occasionally on d. It is interesting that you never see a mavs fan proposing to trade damp anymore. I think we realie he is untradable until the end of his contract, but that he does things that this team has never had.
