Now this trade may need a third party or some tweaking but the main trade is JO for Bargs and Rasho plus filler (whether it be player, cash, or draft pick)
But the reasons each team does it is: for Indiana they have been on a steady decline over the last few years and if they want to think about rebuilding they need to get rid of JO's contract. Bargs would be the center piece that Indiana would receive. He is a young big with a lot of upside. Rasho is primarily there to match up salary. Now I am thinking that Indiana would probably want a draft pick as well to help them collect some young players to start the rebuilding process. Now the reason Toronto does this trade is basically to bring them to that next level. JO and Bosh would create huge match up problems for opposing teams since both can play in and out of the paint. Thats the rough draft of the trade but like I said that this may need a third team or some adjusting.

I proposed something like this before...Toronto fans don't want to take on O'Neal's contract, which is understandable. I still think he'd help them a lot more than he'd hurt them, but it is a lot of money to gamble with.

Well I'm a Raps fan and I think JO's contract would be worth it. I know its large but I think the pro's would definitely out weigh the con's.

Pacers don't want Bargnani, they need a PG back to replace Tinsley (who needs a new employer too!).

The Pacers front office just lied about Jamaal Tinsley being injured, it was a cover-up. Come to find out Tinsley was being disciplined for an incident during a film session. My point is you cannot trust any report coming from the Pacers.

I believe JO is disgruntled and has lost all desire to compete in his current situation. He definitely wants out, and believes it'll never happen because Larry is asking too much. Therefore the only thing for him to do is to lower his value.

The Raptors do have the pieces to make it happen, although Rasho and Bargs aren't the ones.

Toronto wouldn't do this deal because of Jermaine's massive contract. He's due for $60 million over the next 3 years and always seems to miss 10-20 games per season. That would be a real factor for Toronto not to do this deal.

Jermaine is a great talent no question about it but it dosn't fit our plans in the long haul.

Pacers wouldn't dump Jermaine O'Neal for Bargs and Rasho unless they are convinced that the want to rebuild around Williams, Granger, Harrison, Bargnani and Diogu as their core.

Pacers could still do better... expirings and a pick would be the better option if they were going into rebuilding mode.

i still doubt the raps bite... but it at least comes closer to filling their needs (inside help on both sides of the ball and if they trade ford a more useful backup). they give up ford which is big, and rasho's exp but kapono's role can be filled by parker/delfino/dixon and same with garbajosa. they keep moon, bosh, bargnani, calderon and parker but get a 13/8/4 guy in tinsley and an inside presence in o'neal.

plus think of all the fun they could have with both graham twins on the bench!

Indy wouldn't trade O'Neal for just expirings unless they feel that they want to shut it down in go in rebuild mode.

how is tinsley's deal worse than ford's? tinsley is going to be making about $7mil each of the next four years. ford (if he picks up his option for a 4th year) will be making over $8mil a year. the real difference is the players option but given ford's injury history i assume he'll probably take it.

then when you consider tinsley's production for the dollar... he's a starting PG in the league who avg. 13.4ppg, 8.5apg, 4rpg. ford's production: 14.1ppg, 6.8apg, 1.9rpg.

JO yes has a lot left on his deal but it ends sooner. the bigger emphasis would be on a frontcourt of JO and Bosh without losing calderon, moon or bargnani.

true if we're trading JO alone but if we're moving tinsley as well, there is more latitude. kapono is someone the pacers were after in the summer and we desperately need a pure shooter like that off the bench. ford gives us a new starting caliber PG. garbo if he gets healthy would be great in our new small-ball lineup next season, and if he doesn't get healthy he'd be exp soon. rasho is exp.


ultimately i don't know if the pacers do it because they'd take on kapono and ford's longer deals and still have murphleavy's. they'd move on with a new PG which they'd like, they'd like kapono and garbajosa but i think financial flexibility would be slightly more important.
