Amare for Kirk?

Post#1 » by BULLSrunIT » Sat Jan 19, 2008 6:49 pm

Marcus Banks
&
Amare Stoudemire

FOR

Viktor Khryapa (expiring)
Chris Duhon (expiring)
Tyrus Thomas (rookie contract)
Kirk Hinrich (declining contract)

The Suns shed $5 mil off of their salary for next year and get a real backup for Nash. Thomas has the potential to someday fill Amare's shoes.

Chicago gets their lowpost threat and maybe even revitalizes Wallace because he is now next to a big PF. Like I said maybe. Chi waits to the deadline to pull this off, and their backcourt rotation isn't that good (not that much worse tho) so they probably won't be good enough to make the playoffs and hopefully can get a decent pick this year.

Chicago

Banks / BG
Thabo / BG
Deng / Noc
Amare / Joe Smith / Noah
Wallace / Noah / Gray

This deserves nothing more than a

Do you really think Phoenix would trade a young All-Star big man for a guy to BACK UP their best player? Absurdity.

They are also looking for financial relief, which this provides. THis is more of a business trade than a talent trade. Many believe that Nash burns out in the playoffs because he has no true backup. Whenever he rests during a game, Phoenix disintegrates. Also, they pick up Tyrus, who I believe would thrive in Phoenix with Nash throwing him all those passes and his athleticism. Tyrus has the potential to be great, but the Chicago coaching staff is wasting him.

Doesn't Kirk have a big long contract as well? Paying that much for a backup won't happen with their cheap ownership.

Basically you need to send them Deng and/or your unprotected 2008 1st before they start listening.

Kirk has a declilning contract which drops by almost $1 mil every year so it is a good contract even due to its length. Plus Kirk is a combo guard so he can play the 2 as well. He will produce more than Banks ever will in PHO. And i honestly believe that Tyrus could be nearly as good as amare in PHO. SInce Kirk is declining and both Banks and Amare increase every year, PHO saves more than $5mil per year with this trade and the other deals expiring. Tyrus will need an extension in 2 yrs but he will still probably be cheaper than AMare.

There is no way Phoenix takes the orignal deal. Thats absurd for them Amare is the best thing in the deal and they don't need Hinrich and his contact to backup Nash. Deng would have to go or no deal

WHy would they want a player that they would have to give and 8-figure extension to? I thought they said they don't want to pay the tax anymore.

Deng will want almost as much as Amare and he will never produce like Amare does. Tyrus has that potential and Kirk fills a need. With next year's pick included i think they might look at this.

If Phoenix puts Amare out to market for financial relief, you really think the best offer they're going to get includes a backup PG being paid $37.5M AFTER this season?

Wow this trade is awful.

Tyrus Thomas would be great in Phoenix, but not at the cost of Amare.

Hinrich gets paid wayyyy too much to be a backup for Nash so they don't really need him.

And Tyrus isn't going even close to Amare and wouldn't be even if put in the Suns system. Amare's game is far more developed offensively and defensively. And Amare is a center, Tyrus is not.

Yes the Suns trading Thomas and all of those first round picks were money deals, but you are way, way overestimating how much money they aren't willing to pay. I mean they do have a high priced roster, but they don't need to shed any more money.

Look at this roster:
Nash/Hinrich
Bell/Barbosa
Hill/Marion
Marion/Thomas
Skinner???????

Absolutely terrible for the Suns

Then look at it from a Bulls perspective, that back court would be abused defensively, so they really don't get any better.

That is just an overall terrible trade.

Hirich would get what....15 minutes a game? He would be behind Nash, Bell and Barbosa on the depth charts. Awful idea.
