Gasol worth nothing?

Gasol playing worse than this is still more valuable than half the league.

OKC will trade Westbrook for Dwight or CP3 if they are offered. Presti won't trade him for Pau.

Russ is also a poor fit for the triangle unless he can improve his 3-pt shooting.

LA should be willing to trade anybody but Gasol or Kobe.

Pau for Ibaka/Harden? I know salaries dont match up.
Lakers desperately need some athleticism and a guard that doesnt suck.

OKC lineup:
Perkins
Gasol
Durant
Thabo
Westbrook

Why is this on the games board?

Obviously I'm exaggerating, he is not worth "nothing", but his value will be much lower this offseason due to his recent performance. You never want to trade players when their value is low, especially if you know they can perform much better.

It would be like Chicago fans overreacting and demanding that the FO trade Boozer after these playoffs because of his performance while his value is low. Sure you may not like how the guy is playing, but you know he can perform much better.

I agree, but if the Lakers trade Gasol this offseason, it will reek of desperation and they'll get far less then his actual value for him.

If they trade anyone IMO it should be Bynum - he's the one player on their roster whose trade value might be higher then his win-now value.

The thunder would not even trade Ibaka straight up for Gasol let alone throw in Harden. Ibaka is 21yrs old and will be challenging Howard for DPOY from here on out.

C'mon man you should know better then that the Clippers have to include in Eric Gordon to make it fair and the Thunder have to throw in Ibaka for Derrick "G.O.A.T." Character

dhh2h wrote:Perhaps a trade of something like Steve Blake and Pau Gasol for Westbrook and Nazr Muhummad? (off the top of my head)

I think it would fit both teams extremely well, you could start Pau in place of Perkins and have Ibaka at PF (or vice versa) and have Perkins backup Pau. You could start Maynor and finally give Durant a full time PG whose job it is to get HIM the ball. No more alpha dog concerns and drama late in games where Westbrook sometimes screws it up. Pau is an all-star and borderline HOFer mostly for his international play, and we know that when Pau is playing Pau basketball, he is the best big man in the NBA no question. Maybe a change of scenery and a fresh new start is just what Gasol needs if he is having issues with the team (idk).

On the other hand, LA finally gets to correct and fix the issue thats been haunting them since the days of Magic Johnson, having a competent PG. Not just a competent PG, Westbrook is an all star and could thrive being the first option once Kobe hangs them up. Westbrook is only like 22 years old so thats a good 10 years, and I believe he could build himself a nice legacy in LA. The Lakers wouldn't lose a step in their front court simply moving Odom into the starting lineup at PF and having Nazr off the bench. If the Lakers want to somehow pursue Dwight they could move Bynum for him (but thats for a completely different thread).

So what are your thoughts? Should each team do this?

Get er done Mitch!

Count the candles on the birthday cakes. Count the zeros on the paychecks. This is such an easy no for OKC a team buil for a LONG WINDOW. OKC did it logical and their time is close. LAL did well but now have used up their window. Both play in the West...by the way. OKC is okay with LAL being old and high $.
