A momentary lapse of insanity – LAL _ MEM

Post#1 » by DanishLakerFan » Thu Dec 14, 2017 6:20 am

Lets say that the 8-20 Grizzlies decide that they may not be able win with this current group.

Lets say that the Lakers’ plans of adding 2 max guys take a hit – like if Boogie and George are moved, if Cleveland make moves etc. Or if they get a clear indication from agents that it wont happen.

Would this be possible and what would need to be added?
Memphis get: KCP, Lopez, Brewer, Clarkson and ______
Lakers get: Conley, Gasol and Parsons.

As it stands, I’m not sure the Grizzlies are receiving positive value... so.. you’d probably not like the answer I’d give here, but a lot.

Are they giving positive value?

Parsons is a huge negative. Conley and Gasol are very good, but they're not really 'bargain at any price' good.

So we become the los angeles grizzlies.

So Ball and Ingram comes of the bench because they play the same position as Conley and Parsons.

And eew with those contracts. We didnt even gave them Deng.

This is beyond bad for the lakers.
Lets go Lakers!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Easy pass from the Lakers. We'd rather wait til offseason.

Doing this would be very short-sighted and unwise. Its one thing to acquire good players cheaply, its another thing to acquire them without cost. Free Agency enables you to add players (in the right situation of course) for free. For instance, next season, you could have Paul George or Demarcus Cousins added to your team at zero cost. Granted you may have to lose some contracts to create the necessary space, still the tradeoff remains of minimal cost compared to trading for players. I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring Gasol this year though, adding PG next year.

You don't have to like the trade but Ingram would not come off the bench for Parsons, lol. And Ball/Conley could probably work as a back court to some extent.

Nothing? Gasol barely helps you move Parsons - worst contract of all times. Conley is neutral value at best.

Is this a real question? Of course they’re giving up value. Both of those guys are top 10 players at the 2 hardest positions to play.

You’d have to include Ingram or something with actual value. It’s truly ridiculous to suggest that they would trade the 2 best players in Memphis history for nothing but cap space. Who cares about Parsons deal, the Grizzlies aren’t in the luxury tax and half the teams in the league have a terrible contract like his. He also hasn’t been utterly terrible this year.
