Beal to Nets with Warriors

Post#1 » by rugbyrugger23 » Fri May 22, 2020 3:47 am

Someone had to...

Wizards Trade: Beal
Wizards Receive: Wiggins + 2020 GSW FRP + #20 (Nets FRP) + 2021 Wolves FRP (via GSW) + 2022 Nets FRP (unprotected)

Nets Trade: Dinwiddie + LeVert + Allen + #20 + 2022 FRP
Nets Receive: Beal + Looney + Poole

Warriors Trade: Wiggins + Looney + Poole + 2020 FRP + 2021 Wolves FRP Owed
Warriors Receive: LeVert + Dinwiddie + Allen

Wizards Why: wait out Wiggins and Wall contract while rebuilding. Lineup still isn’t half bad.
C: Bryant
F: Rui
F: Wiggins
G: TBJ | Robinson
G: Wall
Plus 3x FRP, most likely a PGOF and a FOF.

Nets Why: rumored to like the way Beal fits with Irving and KD.
C: Jordan
F: KD
F: Prince
G: Beal
G: Irving

Warriors Why: step in as third team to get quality parts (maybe not ideal) to their lineup.
C: Allen
F: Green
F: LeVert
G: Klay
G: Curry
6: Dinwiddie

I’d be inclined to take Allen out of the deal if it allowed the Warriors to keep one of their picks. Allen is a good player for sure, but if I recall correctly he’s up for a new contract very soon and I’d assume he wants handsome financial compensation. I’d much rather plug in an MLE level center and keep one of the picks than have to figure out what to do with Allen’s next contract.

Looking at LeVert’s stats, im not sure I see what the big deal with him is. Seems his shooting is getting worse as he gets more minutes. Wiggins’ is getting better - and is better than Levert’s. Levert also seems to have health issues, Wiggins doesnt. This looks like a downgrade on the court (but obviously a better contract).

Allen i really like though as a big. Think he fits perfectly into what we need / want.

Dinwiddie is a nice backup guard but I think is not a good 3pt shooter.

Overall its not bad, but im going to pass. Would rather keep Wiggins (bad contract and all) and either make a deal for Allen or just draft Okongwu / Wiseman.

I know there are some GSW fans that really like Dinwiddie and LeVert though so you’ll probably get some people biting.

I feel like there was a deal very similar to this that I liked but not sure what it was now. But after looking at LeVert’s stats I definitely prefer Wiggins.

There's just very, very little that would make me want GS to trade away both their high lotto pick this year and the Minny pick next season. And they pretty much all have either a clear stud or a high-level prospect in return. So this isn't working.

Allen's a fine split-time center, but those guys grow on trees now. Dinwiddle and LaVert both have 10-game runs where they look like all-stars but overall aren't that impressive. Dinwiddle would be a decent fit as a 6th man, but then LaVert is forced somewhat out of position to play and defend SF's (or Klay is). Overall the team deals two huge trade assets, doesn't get anything resembling a star back and still has to fill their toughest need (a good defensive SF).

Since the Warriors are giving up the vast majority of the value for Beal, I’d cut out Brooklyn and try to find another team that can give us more value/better fitting pieces for him.

Tempting as a Warriors fan. I’d almost take this.

If the Nets can do this without including Dinwiddie then they should pull the trigger.

However, I’d prefer for them to go after a frontcourt player or acquire a cheaper guard like Buddy Hield instead of gutting the roster for Beal.

Either way it doesn’t seem like the Wizards will be moving him before Wall comes back.

I actually like that for the Wizards - but I like Wiggins a lot more than most people do.

I'd like it for the Wizards if they got Allen in the deal -- Nets 2020 pick can go to GS.

The problem with that is taking on Wiggins' nose-bleed salary would make it hard to pay Allen.

Or just take Beal and move Klay to the SF. But yeah GSW is paying the price and the Nets are getting the guy.

GSW might as well just remove the Nets and deal directly for Beal. Play Curry/Beal/Klay together, there are plenty of centers available in free agency to round out the team.

The Beal rumor came from a Knicks beat writer, so take it it with a grain of salt. However, I am pretty sure that Beal & half the league has been part of "internal discussions" by Nets management. They wouldn't be doing their job if they weren't always discussing hypothetical ways of improving the team.

If Bondy's source is legit, I would take it as a greater indication that the Nets are looking for a way to upgrade on the wings, and would like a guy that can carry the offensive load when KD and/or Kyrie are out. Personally, I think a guy like Jrue fits better, although Beal is younger & has been more durable as of late.

That being said, I like Beal & I like that he's young & can be part of the franchise post-KD. I just don't know if you give up your entire asset chest for Beal.

I would have a serious problem with being involved in a Beal trade and not getting Beal.

I mean really, the Nets are just adding the #20 and a 2022 FRP for Beal over our offer. We should be able to cover that value amount.

I think that Wizards would ask for Poole instead of Paschall in this deal.

Wizards are going to need guards. What are they going to do with Paschall? Are you suggesting Paschall has more value than Poole? You only need to look to last year's draft to see that Poole was drafted 28th and Paschall was drafted 41st. I get that EP put up numbers on a bad squad, but he's not as valuable as Poole.
