Well that certainly isn't the trade anyone was expecting from these teams. I'm fine with it though!

That's all it took? I figured a worse team would trade a 2nd for him to give him a shot. Guess hes already kinda older

Ehh, sure. Paschall is a good guy but never really found a serious role. Hopefully you guys can get more out of him than we did.
Think he and Mitchell are buddies as well

Yeah this always made more sense than paying the tax for Ingles. Seems fine.

Good luck EP! Happy he went somewhere that wanted him, hopefully he find his niche.
Wonder if this means GSW has someone in mind for that roster spot.

Funny, on another Warriors discord we have been talking about this exact deal for a few months.
I won’t miss Paschall on this iteration of the Warriors because we lack shooting and don’t need his skillset. But I do like Paschall the person and I’m happy he’s going to play with his best friend.
Utah is the perfect place for his flaws to be masked. He’s a terrible rebounder, a poor 3 point shooter, and a mediocre off-ball defender. But he’s not bad on-ball because he’s a tank and he’s an excellent ISO option as a spot minute bench guy.
The Warriors’ horrible spacing and Paschall’s injuries this year tanked his effectiveness. He was a borderline elite interior scorer as a rookie but with less spacing, those lanes were more clogged this year and he didn’t always have the explosiveness he needed to bully past walls of defenders. Paschall’s mid range shot was elite this year, his floater ares percentages were pretty good too, and his three percentage improved on decreased volume. It seems his touch was mostly improving but he couldn’t bully his way to the hoop as well as he did in his rookie year.
Utah has the right environment for him to attack the rim in a spread floor. I don’t think you can play him next to Gobert much, but the Jazz might be able to steal minutes doing that if they run shooting heavy backcourts with Conley/Bogdanovic/Ingles.
It’s a good gamble for Utah and it’s great for the Warriors to open up a roster spot and commit fully to JTA as the primary backup forward.

With Dray, JTA, Porter, Wiseman, Bjleciaand even Kuminga getting some minutes at PF, makes sense. Clear a roster spot for a position of need.
Glad Donovan and EP reunited. But protection on a second? Man

Paschall is a solid player and seems to be a good guy. He needs a very special role though (midrange-heavy scoring big off the bench) that just doesn't really exist on the Warriors with Curry and Green running the show again.
Maybe he still has potential to improve (on defense and his 3p shot), but GSW needs the spot for another vet and they have just more promising young guys on the roster that need to be developed.

Re: [Woj] Utah-GSW
There was a stretch early this season where Paschall was just eating backup centers alive. Bigger guys couldn't stay in front of him and smaller guys were getting trucked through. Dealt with some injuries and fell out of the rotation, but I think he can do well in Utah.
Hopefully we use the roster spot on a vet. Hopefully we use that roster spot on a vet

I like this a lot for Utah. Probably more than I should. He’ll barely play, but they needed a PF/C type and was afraid when I read Rudy Gay was an option for that.

This one makes a lot of sense for both teams. Paschall might surprise some people and carve out a nice 10-15 mpg role for himself.

Also just to illustrate how deep into the tax the Warriors really are, dumping Paschall’s $1.8 million salary reduced our tax bill by $12 million

This his yet another wake up call to people here of how real life NBA GM’s actually value players.

Huh? All the talk leading up to this trade was GSW would give him away or take any kind of 2nd. Pretty much exactly what happened here. Sure you can maybe find 1 or 2 guys asking for more for him, but the outlier high side never represents the board and every fanbase has those posters who just loves their own players so much they truly believe their value is sky high.
But this definitely isn't an I told you so thread lol. Warriors fans weren't overvaluing this guy collectively by any means.

Re: [Woj] Utah-GSW
So I guess the Tony Jones really has inside info. He floated that rumor last week before FA even started. I'm kind of surprised it only took protected 2nd, which is good. I don't mind this. It's also kind of funny having in mind just a few weeks ago he was bugging Mitchell on a live stream asking him "When are you going to get out of Utah?" and now he's traded here
The additional rumor(from another reporter) was Jazz potentially trying to angle for Ingles/Moody trade but not sure how they would make that happen and not sure GSW would even be willing to trade Moody in the first place.
