If this was to be their offer, I don't understand why Brooklyn didn't do this in the summer when Houston were still chasing free agents, they had a better chance then. Brooklyn's management work seems like amateur hour, they just facilitated Morey a deal he couldn't negotiate himself.

I don't think anyone took them serious this previous off-season. And this was an opportunity to hopefully strike that didn't work out.
You look at the offers that they made to Crabbe, Johnson, and now Motiejunas. They are trying to land young guys with upside that haven't hit yet. I don't think this was their offer for Donatas in the preseason, I'm not even sure that they were interested in him then.
