Buyout is much more likely.

I am sorry, what on earth makes anybody think that Griffin is going to walk away from $60 million dollars?

I don’t (and I think I’ve made that clear in some other posts). Maybe he gives back 2-3 million, maybe it’s just a straight waive

Nobody knows, but I suspect he gives up maybe half of next year. He's obviously not going to get another big NBA contract, but he's enough of a "name" that if he moves to a bigger market/contender, he could make a chunk of that back in advertising. His brand is going to rot if he just sits around for 2 years.

It’s not like his “brand” is going to get better if he limps through an ineffective season on a bottom feeder either.

He’s probably a vet min player for the rest of his career. Don’t think he gives up much more than that amount in a buyout.

The point is that Blake isn't going to sign with a bottom feeder after a buyout. He would sign with a contender and get tons of national exposure.

Yeah I definitely didn’t express that well. My b.

I’m not sure how much his brand is going to benefit from being a 15-20 mpg bench guy on a contender though. I doubt enough to give up $15 million plus owed.

Griffin isn't getting another big deal or any advertising money at this point. He is a vet minimum bench guy from here on out. It is extremely unlikely he gives up more than 1M.

Detroit should be looking to get an asset or two to eat Westbrook if they're not going to pay to get him off the books next year.
