I would want him on the Mavs...Luka is a specialist in bringing out the best version of role players and we would see the best version of Collins again, his set of skills complement each other perfectly...
Holmes +Green +Curry +2SRP for Collins +Fontecchio..
The Mavs add size and a substantial upgrade in a starting level forward, I also think Fontecchio would be a useful rotation player. This trade leaves the Mavs with all their assets for a bigger consolidation move this summer.
For the Jazz, they can probably get an SRP for Curry or salary relief, thinking about the 76ers..Holmes is a mobile contract that expires next year..they get Green who is young and has some upside and could play minutes with Agbaji in the 2/3

That's because you aren't a Wizard, Hornets, Spurs, or Trailblazers fan.
I know you guys are joking, but while us fans of losing teams don’t want to admit it (I’ve been a MIN a fan through many bad seasons!), there is a value to the organization to at least put a competitive product on the floor. Collins is clearly not worth his deal, but he is a legitimate basketball player. In addition, even if he isn’t the future, he knows enough to go to the right spots on the floor and do his job (albeit poorly), and that can help legitimate young talent learn in a system that is more competent.
I wouldn’t give up any value for Collins (and the Jazz wisely did not either), but a cheap, very young team who doesn’t have cap goals for a year or two might take a look.
No man you supposed to tank every year so you can try to draft the next big thing which requires winning the rigged lottery but who cares, the team winning and being competitive doesn't matter giving the fans something to cheer for is just being a treadmill time! *Note: read this with a sarcastic tone.

That, and getting expiring and 2nds for Collins seems like a big ask.
I don't expect a package of pure expiring contracts for Collins.
What is your take on Sexton?
I liked Sexton coming out of College, but he's been a disappointment maybe it was the injury that has held him back. He should be a pg but only 3.6 asts per game is not very good.

No, the treadmill team is when you are capped, not young, and losing, but not enough to get a top 5 pick. See Wizards, Washington for the last 5 years. If you can produce a winning team with even a hope of actually competing, then sure, go for it.

Re: Does literally anyone want John Collins
Some shades of the Gerald Wallace/David Lee trade with the Collins move by Ainge.
If they hard tank for two years with all of the top talent potentially available in ‘25 and ‘26, plus the current assets and what they could get for Lauri Markkanen, they’d be well stocked, and Collins will be irrelevant in the whole situation.
Not sure if they want to wait that long though.

I think he fits right in for the Bulls in exchange for DeRozan. He's got his contract sono pressure to earn the next payday, with the emergence of Coby White, if Lavine is around, Vucevic and a recently improving Williams, Collins could be the 4th or 5th option and not feel pressured to do more. He could be more of a scorer if he's playing with some of the 2nd unit guys. He's signed for a few more years and for the past 20 years we've seen it's hard for the Bulls to sign starting caliber much less top tier FAs.
Need to find that contender who thinks DeRozan fills the scoring need for the rest of the season and has the combination of picks, youth and expiring contracts that UT would like.
Bulls end up with
Williams
Collins Craig
Vucevic Drummond
White Carter
Lavine (for now) Caruso Dosunmu
How about something like... this ?
Lakers get Derozan, Craig
Utah gets Hachimura, DLO, Lakers 2RP
Chicago gets Collins, Fontecchio, Utah 2RP
Cheers
