I think you’d have to give something with actual value to get Ellis
Damn was afraid someone was going to say that haha.

I think it's more like Rui + Knecht + 2031 1st (top-4 protected) for Monk + Ellis + 2nd. And maybe they should just do it now. Monk severely cuts into Lakers possible 55 million in cap space next summer. I imagine Ellis might be one of the players they would be interested in signing, so they pay in order to get his bird rights and develop cohesiveness with the current team. Just sucks to have to absorb Monk's deal. He would be coming off the bench. Ellis would start. If Lebron is gone, they would then need a 4, and would have about 20 million or so less to use on one next season. It starts to get kind of tight. With that said, I would do the deal now from the Lakers perspective and cross that bridge when they get there. Kings seem like they would like Rui and Knecht. They break up a log jam in the backcourt, and they gain a first round pick.SlimShady83 wrote:Mid season trade Maxi/Gabe/Knecht +SRP, FOR Monk/Ellis?

I think they would do it. Not the splashiest move, I know. But Ellis does not need the ball at all. He averages only 8 points per game. The shots that he does take are usually threes. And, he is one of those tweeners that you need to pair with a large point guard, like Luka. Ellis is skinny, so better off defending point guards. That's all Lakers would need him to do, and knock down open shots.SlimShady83 wrote:scoobs07 wrote:I think it's more like Rui + Knecht + 2031 1st (top-4 protected) for Monk + Ellis + 2nd. No way in hell will Lakers use their FRP for Monk/Ellis no way.

idk man maybe I'm being top overly optimistic about Keon for the Lakers. I feel like they have too many offensive players that try to make things happen on offense, when all they need is just a couple dudes that play defense and hit their open threes and not much elseJB2 wrote:scoobs07 wrote:I think they would do it. As of now, Lakers have one tradable pick until 2033 becomes available. No chance they trade away that 1st for Keon and Monk. IMO, Rui is more far more valuable to the Lakers than Monk. They don't need a small guard who can't play D. Rui gives them roster versatility and scores enough for what he's asked to do. I like Keon Ellis and he's a great backup guard option but he's just not worth anything close to a 1st that's barely protected.
