Do you think some team is sending a young superstar for GA?

Too bad MIL turned down the Luka deal.

A young star - Yes

Trade centered around someone like Deni Avdija or Jalen Johnson ( not necessary those players ) but those type of players

Is Sengun a worse player than Deni or Jalen?

The Thunder are so stupid.

I know on this board a bunch of posters don't even want their teams to try and win now because of this. But they were not untested in the playoffs last year and if I was a 2nd tier team(assumes OKC is on its own tier) I'd be wanting to address any whole or get my hands on a game changer (Giannis?) by the deadline.

Because while lots can change on paper there really isn't a team that you look at and say well in 5 years they project better. I know our Spurs fans think that as Wemby is super young and they love their young guards, but many betting on Wemby health and wasting how good the team/he is right now? Couldn't be me.

And we saw this when the Warriors were running roughshod. This board by and large wanted everyone to play for 3 years later but instead we saw a bunch of teams make big win now pushes. I think we might see that again.

But yeah OKC is stupid. Just stupid.

Agreed. We've also seen teams where their window slammed shut far sooner than expected. Expecting consistent growth in an up and coming team is far from a sure thing. If you think you're one player away from being a conference finals team, find a way to make it happen.

They can if they are under second apron after trade.

Example:

Cavs get Giannis
Bucks get Garland, Hunter, 3rd team picks
3rd team gets Allen

I know you know.. but LAC also might be giving them a top pick in this hyped draft… where the top 3 (and a lot of the top 6-7 prospects..) just happen to be good fits with OKC’s three stars.. And Chet/Jalen are not even in their primes yet. And the 65 game stip means OKC can afford some better depth around them over the next 5 years..

Might as well trade everyone and plan on 2035.

Yeah, I think Cleveland should be interested. And it is possible, Brooklyn and Utah can really help play with money. As long as Cleveland ends the trad below the second apron, should be legal.

I don’t know if they can get it done without Mobley or Mitchell, but if they can - they should do it no matter what else it costs.

There are better offers out there for Giannis, especially ATL.
I love Garland, but he's a major red flag helath wise, and w/o the health issues, he's not really Giannis level player, the pick or 2 you get for Allen don't cover the cost.

Random thread stuff since it’s not worth it.. someone probably did it before?

RJ, IQ, “Det vet min”, “assets” to Dallas
Sasser, Trae, Kennard to Toronto
Naji to Detroit
AD and Brandon Williams to Atlanta

Dallas takes on long term salary to maximize assets.

Detroit gets a cheap useful wing.

Toronto gets a “star”

Atlanta gets a “star”

I would assume this is just overall, and long term, agent work. Sure, JJ just extended, but he’s eventually going to need a new contract and being associated as a “centerpiece in trade value” for an all timer like Giannis helps build the reputation as a sure fire max salary type guy. Doesn’t have to mean he wants out. Just mentioning him in league circles as much as possible helps his value.

Being associated doesn't do anything - Being the centerpiece of a trade does

Being associated absolutely does. Guys that could’ve been centerpieces and were talked about constantly as worthy of it absolutely get a bit of a shine off of it.

Does anyone have the ability to just eat Allen’s salary, though?. They’d have to send back salary to either Milwaukee or Cleveland, or include a 4th team with a large cap eating tool (space, TPE, etc). And, Cleveland is $22m over that second apron that prevents them from aggregating, which is a LARGE drop to make midseason. Especially while maintaining the minimum roster sizes.

Everybody always thinks they're gonna be the next OKC with a 10-year dynasty window, that is, until all their "untouchable" prospects are all of a sudden 25, 26, and 27 years old, they're stuck paying 2-3 of those guys contracts they aren't worth, and they look back regrettably on all the "what if" scenarios had they simply sacrificed a couple scratch off lottery tickets for the obvious/proven superstar and put themselves in a much better position to win a championship. It's a tale as old as time, but us internet arm-chair GM's never seem to learn.

Boston is the only team with a TPE big enough for Allen.

Brooklyn, Washington and Utah are the only teams which could absorb 20 Million in salary and not go into the tax.

The deal presented by Zimpy27 is essentially impossible. Fun thought exercise for about 3 minutes

I prefer IQ as PG next to ingram (and barnes). Trae is too ball dominant and is a poor fit next to our forward duo.

IF we are to trade for Trae then Ingram should be outgoing and a defensive wing need to come back too imo. RJ also fits better next to Trae on offense w/ his cutting and finishing ability.

Works in Spotrac. Cavs and Bucks are the core of the deal. Celtics cut salary, create a new larger TPE with a later expiration date, and should be willing to spend the multiple FRPs necessary to upgrade from Simons to Allen. Bulls get added scoring on an expiring. Jazz would require a good FRP to absorb Collins' $18MM.

Teams like Boston and pacers window shut quick. Pelicans never had a contender window but their playoff window closes quick also

So, it requires adding 2 additional teams (both of which are 2 of the only major salary dumps available this season), and Milwaukee paying out one of their 1sts in trade return to make it work?

Kind of points out the difficulty…..

Beyond Terrible trade for the Bucks - Like might be the worst trade of seen on this board involving Giannis - You really think that Giannis is only worth Garland and Hunter?
