Assuming they're getting assets as "more" assets seems to indicate, I'm cool with it. If wall is washed, well, so is Russ, who cares, but if he's not, he's two years younger and less reliant on athleticism, so it's good business. Operating on the assumption the rockets are cooked, I'm for it

Yeah Wall also provides a name as well, instead of just ending up with picks and guys no one has heard of. Makes sense.
I don't think they'd get picks unless it was wall

(I’m probably incorrectly factoring in a Harden deal for picks already + Nets non marquee players and looking at the end result)

Wall is probably worth 8m a year at this point. Westbrook is probably worth 30m a year.

Must be a lot of assets coming for the Rockets

As a free agent signing? Or in trade?

If it's an S&T, it's Atlanta who should be getting the asset.

I was really confused by the article because most of it is in the context of a sign and trade but why would Atlanta give Boston anything? Just sign him.

I don't like this at all for Atlanta. Well I'm very low on Hayward but giving assets for him sounds crazy.

Boston getting a TPE is the get I assume and yeah Atlanta should get something for that.

Here is it for those who haven't seen it:
https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-hawks-in-play-for-signandtrade-for-gordon-hayward-233224425.html

The Atlanta Hawks are in play in an attempt to acquire Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

A sign-and-trade deal is a possible route, but Atlanta is equipped with the most cap space in the league at around $44 million and can simply sign Hayward to a hefty multi-year deal if he decided to decline his option.

If I were asked what the article means, it means that a S&T needs to be a big enough offer, okay??? Please? Did you read Haynes???

If it's an S&T, Boston should be giving Atlanta something since they get a big TPE instead of just his contract coming off the books.

Utah did this years ago, giving Chicago a 2nd rounder to take Boozer in an S&T instead of signing him outright. (Utah then used the TPE to acquire Al Jefferson.)

Surely for one of these teams Milwaukee, Clippers, Lakers, Houston, Brooklyn if they do a huge trade, this turns into an absolute disaster eventually? In 5 years there has to be at least one of them that becomes the new Brooklyn from the Boston/Garnett/Piece trade.

Yeah that makes sense. Maybe Boston then acquires someone like Adams into the TPE.

Admas makes quite a bit money and I don't know if Atlanta should pay Gordon enough to create a TPE large for Boston to bring in Adams.

.........................2019-20..........2020-21..
Steven Adams.....$25,842,697.....$27,528,090

Maybe something is done at the same time as the Hayward Sign & Trade.

Example with OKC as the third team.

Atlanta
In: Hayward, Compensation
Out: Probably just their cap space

Boston
In: Adams
Out: Hayward, Poirer?, Kanter?, Compensation

OKC
In: Poirier?, Kanter?
Out: Adams

Atlanta -- Gets Hayward and some compensation for participating in a
OKC -- Carves out cap space (or TPE) by taking back much less salary than they are sending out.
Boston -- Gets Adams and dumps backup centers.

I have no idea if Presti would squeeze Ainge for major compensation or would be mostly satisified by creating more cap space or a TPE.

surprised how low they are with Hayes (overall) and Avdija.
I have no doubt that Hayes will be the best player (by far) of this Draft ... whoever catches him will be very happy (Luka's little project) is written.
Avdija is not great at anything .. but good at everything. He has to work his exterior shot, but he will make it.
my top 5 ....
1Hayes ....2Avdija 3Edward 4Ball ..5Wiseman
1+1=11

There is zero reason for Atlanta to give up 6 for 14.

if it's a S&T I think you can't trade out Hayward with other players

No idea if someone will trade for Adams given his big contract but no way Presti is going to trade him just for saving money. Better keep him and try to trade him at the deadline (or S&T next offseason under a better contract)
