Since no one did the Pistons I will.

Protected:

Stewart
Grant
Bey
Josh Jackson
Hayes
Sekou
Cook - TO
Diallo - RFA

NOTE: It's not stipulated in the rules if 2 way players count as "normal" players...

BUT regardless of that fact it appears Lee & Frank Jackson are not under contract (though I'm assuming are technically RFAs of some description )

Will include both in the list of players Seattle could technically select from:

Lee
Frank Jackson
Sirvydis
Plumlee
CoJo
Okafor
McGruder

I'd offer Seattle #42 to not select a Piston.

Deck maybe, but Ty is at least a sniper. Brown is a 3rd stringer on a decent team and Roby is meh at everything IMO.
Ty looks good. Excited when the Suns drafted him but looked terrible his rookie season. Had a much better sophomore campaign.

Tough call between plumlee and frank Jackson. Prob comes down to other draft pick possibilities, but for a **** team: Detroit gives up something Sonics will be happy to get

Apparently 2 way players not eligible for the Expansion Draft so Frank Jackson is safe

Ok I'm assigning these teams

zimpy27: Nets
eminence: Pelicans
Texas Chuck: Cavaliers
loserx: Nuggets

The Lakers and Clippers ones are pretty easy so if anyone wants to do it they can, otherwise I'll just post my picks and see if there's any disagreements

Cleveland

Protecting:
Sexton
Garland
Okoro
Nance
Allen (RFA)
Windler
Kabengale
Wade

Available
Love
Prince
Osman
Hartenstein(if he picks up his option)
Dotson(only if Cleveland guarantees his deal)

Only real choice was Wade or Dotson and Wade played more games and is younger so he gets it.

Osman is maybe the controversial omission, but I'm doubting the Sonics would pick him on that contract and I'm pretty happy if they do. He's 26, not good, and has 3 years left.

Interesting. Care to expand on Kabengele over Hartenstien? Likely somewhat moot because he's going to decline the PO (though they could then protect him as a RFA), but Hartenstien is younger and played quite a bit better for them. Maybe I'm missing something because I'm just looking at box scores and didn't actually watch any Kabengele

Yeah I had Hartenstein opting out of a min option knowing he'd be able to get at least that again only having more choice on his location. I don't know that Kabengele has anything, but he's cheap and Deke is his uncle so gamble on those bloodlines?

I have no issues though if others think he should be left unprotected. Always tougher on those end of the bench guys when you aren't watching them every night the way a Cavs fan would.

I'm seeing a few more with Eubanks unguaranteed contract and Weatherspoon QO
Oh yeah, you're right. Well unless any spurs fans want to take over (which I encourage, just trying to help fill out the teams) I'd do:
1. Derrick White
2. DeJounte Murray
3. Jakob Poeltl
4. Lonnie Walker
5. Devin Vassell
6. Luka Samanic
7. Keldon Johnson
8. Drew Eubanks

Which leaves:
Tre Jones
DaQuan Jeffries
Quinndary Witherspoon (RFA)
Keita Bates-Diop (RFA)

Unprotected

Still think it's a pretty easy choice. Even if spurs fans like those unprotected guys more than I do, their top eight is nothing but young guys who have rotation spots on cheap deals, so they all need to be protected

I don't know if it's "official official", but the Spurs already decided to let him become an UFA.

New Orleans

Protected
1. Zion Williamson
2. Brandon Ingram
3. Jaxson Hayes
4. Nickeil Alexander-Walker
5. Kira Lewis
6. Lonzo Ball
7. Josh Hart
8. Naji Marshall

Un-Protected
1. Eric Bledsoe
2. Steven Adams
3. Wes Iwundu
4. Wenyen Gabriel
5. Didi Louzada

Thought about protecting Adams for a bit, but I think I'd be fine if somebody picked him up. Protected both Ball/Hart to bring them back, I can imagine not everyone agrees there. Paused for a second on Gabriel, but couldn't convince myself.

Thoughts?

I think Prince being protected over Kabengele, especially if you think Hartenstein is opting out. Prince is a decent bench combo forward that shoots the 3 well and being an expiring contract of reasonable size would make match salaries in a trade a lot easier at the deadline and might be an option for the expansion draft being an expiring just to get future draft assets.

Prince has zero chance of getting picked though. I agree his salary could come in handy, but the idea is to protect players who could get picked. And the expansion team won't need a big expiring because they can offer pure cap space in exchange for assets which is much more attractive.

That said, you are a Cavs fan so it should defer to you. If you prefer protecting Prince then it should be your decision. I was just filling in because the OP asked me to since no Cavs fans had posted.

If a team wanted to pay the expansion team to dump salary, they'd just give the expansion team assets to pick that player off their team straight up, I think prince is safe here

They only have pure cap space prior to drafting players though since don't they only have 70% of the cap or whatever available to them so they'll be over the cap almost immediately so they won't have pure cap space. Granted a team could offer assets to get them to take their bad contract in the draft as well. Just if I were doing the expansion draft picks I would look less for good players and more for players that could be flipped for draft assets taking on contracts as you're likely to be bad for 3-4 years regardless.
