I like it quite a bit. Essentially this is JV/17 for Adams/10 which is the sort of move they should have been looking for. Then Bledsoe for the future Laker pick as a requirement for the first part. They lose a bit of value on that 2nd bit, but this gives them a chance to get the kind of offensive-minded prospect they need out of this draft.
For the Pels I love it too. They upgrade center(though I would probably be trying to move him on as well as he's an odd fit next to Zion) and clear some money towards an aggressive free agency push.
I thought a deal of Bledsoe + Adams into cap space for #10 seemed fair. And in this deal I think you need to view JV as a positive value asset. I guess #17 for a future 1st makes some sense if Memphis isn't in love with anyone in this years draft and prefers a future pick for trade purposes.
Anyway, excellent trade for the Pelicans as they create cap space and improve their roster while only moving down 7 slots (with a ton of draft capital to move back up if there is a player that they love).
And respect to Memphis for stepping up and getting a prime asset, the #10 pick, Memphis isn't necessarily a free agent destination, so having essentially $21 MM (difference between JV and Adams/Bledsoe) this year and $21MM next year tied plus letting JV go isn't a horrible price for a top 10 pick in a strong draft. So I guess, JV + #17 for Adams and #10 is fair, even with the extra money. And Bledsoe + a future 1st into cap space is fair.
So, again, respect for Memphis for being bold and making a move into the top 10.
