Yah just as an FYI for everyone: the mods have been discussing this, and the idea for now is to let this thread run, but we will be opening a separate draft day discussion thread sometime before it actually gets underway tonight. Keeps the discussions separate and clean!

And no.

It only makes sense if the picks are plentiful and used to bring in the near All-Star level talent Philly is seeking so looking at a third or fourth team.


As for OKC and Kemba, they will just slowly rehab him and hope that he plays well enough for them to flip him. He isn't in any future plans so they really don't care much about fit. They likely are tanking next year anyways.

The Pacers are juggling trade talks involving Myles Turner, T.J. Warren, and this pick in separate deals. Sign-and-trade scenarios involving some of the many restricted free agents available this offseason have also been discussed, league sources say.

As for OKC and Kemba, they will just slowly rehab him and hope that he plays well enough for them to flip him. He isn't in any future plans so they really don't care much about fit. They likely are tanking next year anyways.

Yeah I meant more of a fit in regards to a trade partner. I get they want to tank I just didn't want to watch Kemba next to SGA but maybe I'll be surprised on them actually being able to rehab his value

Okay, guys I called around and spoke with nearly every league executive I could. Here is what they told me:

The Buddy Hield thing to the Lakers is serious, but still might not happen. But it absolutely could, the teams are talking.
Philly will likely not trade Ben Simmons tonight. But if they do, look for it to be a blockbuster with at least one 3x all star in the deal.
Some rebuilding teams will look to get compensated for their vets who no longer fit their timelines, and if they are willing to accept less than they want you might see a few teams add solid players.
GS is likely to stay where they are, unless the can move up from one of their picks.
Detroit is going to stay at 1, but is also listening to all offers
Presti wants to make a move, and feels he has the ability to do so.
There are a lot of teams at the end of the 1st round that want to move up; or get win now help. And a lot of teams in the teens that are considering moving back for future picks and 2nd 1sts.
We are going to see a lot of movement in the 2nd round tonight.

As a general rule, ask yourself, do I even know who the heck this is?

(And then, if so, is it for being inaccurate).

If you don't, look how many followers they have and assume some number is based off the fact that they just had a story -- better than Lowe/Woj/Shams -- even if it wasn't based off much or anything.

Then look at their team ties if any.

In this case you have an under 10k followed California radio personality with no significant ties to the 76ers and iirc some history of having similar breaking news that didn't happen and wasn't had by anyone.

Some bonus tidbits that didn't make the pod

Kawhi likes Southern California, and just needs to decide what contract he wants. The Clippers are comfortable letting him pick, and he has been just focusing on rehabbing so far and hasn't decided.
Dallas thinks if they can add some talent, they can take the next step with Luka. So much will depend upon their cap space situation and running it back is always an option, but look for them to target some big names in free agency; with Lowry being mentioned specifically.
NOP clearing cap space confirms what everyone knew; the Lonzo time there is over. Still, look for the Pelicans to try and be involved in a S&T and not get nothing for the Ball brother.
Speaking of Ball brothers, Charlotte is thrilled with theirs and looking to accelerate the team's success around him by plugging the hole at center. If the 11 pick is moved, expect it to be a center with the oft rumored Turner a possibility.
But don't rule out Indy shocking everyone and moving on from Sabonis instead. Or making a move for Simmons tonight. There are hushed whispers about all sorts of things that Indy is suddenly open to.
