I don’t understand this move from Noel’s perspective. He is better than a lot of the frontcourt free agents and should be able to get paid.

Layman to Minnesota 3 yrs 11.5M via S&T deal with Portland.

Could it be Tolliver S&T for Layman S&T so both keep their exceptions?

I mean I think the lesson is that the Thunder aren’t always terrible at recruiting

He also gets early bird rights next summer. I’m guessing OKC not only re-signs him to a long term deal next summer, but also that he is the starter a year from now.

Gordon would have to be going out one had to figure. Makes sense to bring in a glue guy like Iggy to try and keep Paul and Harden together in common cause.

Would they have to pay him 14M+ to get close enough to the Iggy number?

Yep. 14m with the last two years ungauranteed. Shump can then negotiate a buyout if he wants in order to go sign with a contender for the min while still making a decent salary for the year. As long as he gives a little back I think Memphis would appreciate the cap savings to stay below the tax plus it helps with the roster crunch so a buyout could be mutually beneficial.

Yep 13.7 or so, plus two non guaranteed years. Shump says thank you, Memphis saves almost 4 million and likely gets a 2nd from Houston.

The first year would need to be guaranteed on the Shumpert sign and trade.

Iguodala -- $17,185,185

86. How do simultaneous trades work? How much salary can a team take back in a simultaneous trade?

Outgoing salary.................Maximum incoming salary
$0 to $6,533,333...............175% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,0005
$6,533,334 to $19.6 million...The outgoing salary plus $5 million5
$19.6 million and up............125% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,000

Shumpert with the first year guaranteed for $12.2 million should meet the CBA requirements for the numbers part of the trade.

Rumors have Iguodala wanting to get a buyout so he can join the Lakers. Is he willing to give him up $5 million so he can go to LA?

___________Edit____________

Taxpaying Teams
Outgoing salary.................Maximum incoming salary
Any...............................125% of the outgoing salary, plus $100,000

If things work out with Houston being classified as a taxpayer, then the 125% + $100,000 formula needs to be used.

$17,185,185 - $100,000 = $17,085,185

$17,085,185 / 1.25 = $13,668,148

So either $12.2 million or $13.7 million.

If Iguodala was expecting to give up $2.6 million in a buyout.

$17,185,185 - $2,600,000 = $14,585,185

Or turning down more money to 'rethink it' doesn't work.

That's borderline inexplicable to me.

I think the off the court issues with Noel are much bigger than generally known in the public. There's been enough smoke about issues especially combined with the seemingly annual conversations about how did he get so little that I think there's something there.

I was actually wondering about that.

He also gets early bird rights next summer. He can get paid next summer really well and there are rumors that Adams will be moved. I don’t think it’s crazy to think he parlays another good season with increases in minutes played into a starting position with OKC

With this news, it looks like Indy will go into next season with only two free agents in Sabonis and Alize Johnson, and $36+m in space to sign them and up to 2 more necessary free agents.

10 guaranteed deals. McConnell would make 11. That would leave $36m for up to 4 roster spots, 2 of which are Dom and hopefully Alize, if he proves some worth this year. Waive McConnell, and we have up to 5 roster spots for $38.5m.

What I’m saying is, we can afford to keep Sabonis, even up to a max, of it works out and we have to.

Courtney Lee -- $12,759,670

$12,759,670 + $5,000,000 = $17,759,670

Iguodala -- $17,185,185
