Or being the number 2 owner and forcing the number 1 to sell can only be good for you? I'm not sure I'm more or less positive on it as a motived value judged course of action based off knowing who he is, but I'm seeing it as a lot more unstable for a franchise situation even if the minority owner is in practice fully and absolutely powerless as I believer they have always been.

Sure, but that's going to be the case no matter what. Either we can take people as meaning what they say, or we can always infer that they have insidious motives. Regardless, it's big news.

Define good for you. Firing the managing partner to buy his share is buying yourself a job you might not want.

Minority owners typically have zero control or say, and if is a team is losing money just get a bill. You aren't riding shotgun so much as in the way back. Getting a better driver you like more alone would be good for you.

But also for instance in the Twolves ownership if the majority shareholder cashes out, the minority owners are contractually promised the ability to sell at the same price. So, generating a new sale could be beneficial even if he wasn't planning on bidding for the team, but perhaps was selling or just wanted better main owners.

if the 12 month suspension and $10 million fine works and causes Sarver to reflect, improve his behaviour and other management follows suit.

Wouldn't that mean the punishment was correct? Isn't the point to cause correction?

Cynically it could be that

A 60 year old man needs to be punished to think about his behavior? I have a hard time believing he going to change at this point.

We can all change.

But I don't think the intent here by the NBA is to rehab Sarver. The intent is to send a message that we don't tolerate this sort of behavior.

The NBA is in a tough spot because Sarver is one of Silver's bosses. But in any other industry Sarver would have been gone. Even in cases where these guys have large ownership shares the boards ultimately force them out for the good of the business as their responsibility dictates.

Sponsors and Investors applying more pressure to get Sarver out of there than the NBA.

Not worth a thread, and I may have posted it earlier. Noel for Saric. Noel is absurdly redundant with Stewart, Duren, and Bagley. Phoenix gets a backup center.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Schroeder signing with LA makes Conley going there unlikely. Could still see something like Bojan + Beasley + Gay for Westbrook + 1st.

I am fascinated how battle lines get drawn here. Kia supports the Suns, but they have a bigger deal with the entire NBA. The NBA gave out the punishment, and Sarver is 1/30th of it’s owners, and one of Silver’s bosses. Some consider the players to be partners with the NBA, yet some of their spokesmen denounced the punishment. A minority owner wants Sarver gone.

If I’m being cynical, I believe that each party is acting in their own self-interest, trying to position themselves to improve their standing with onlookers for other reasons, or at least avoid the stain of Sarver falling on themselves too. But who each decides to align with and how they spin it (Kia stands with the nba and it’s fans in punishing Sarver) is interesting stuff.

I think this is usually a safe bet.

But in all seriousness, totally agree. I mean you'll notice PayPal is saying "if he's still there next year" they are notably not looking to get their patch off the jersey this year, which would seem more principled, but also have real costs.

A bunch of old farts (very knowledgeable though) are discussing the Greatest Old Fart of out time. The irony is that very few if anyone younger 40 actually care about him and even less what he thinks.
