Hard to say. The scenarios that cross my mind are:
1. MN may have decided they don't want to pay full market value for Dieng next year, so he and Muhammad could be moved now that Aldrich and Hill are there. Or maybe he just wants to move Bazz and/or Jones for guys that he thinks will play defense. Maybe move the two of them for another rotation wing and sign Captain Kirk to be your 3rd PG? We've been waiting for him to get a Bulls alum.
2A. He's made a decision that Andrew Wiggins is a 2 and consequently wants to make the roster work around that. That might mean LaVine goes for another 3. Maybe LaVine and Rubio for a star type player there.
2B.Or perhaps he's confident in his abilities as the "Point Guard Whisperer" and would like to take a crack at Zach as a PG again. A hyper-athletic 6'6" and 6'9" backcourt would be pretty **** hard to deal with. It's not difficult to understand why Flip and Smitch wanted it to happen. They just couldn't get it to work. Thibs may think he can do it. Rubio would then be used to find another stouter wing to start at 3.
3. He just wants to shuffle some dead weight (Payne, Pek) out and add a few more of his guys.
