Re: Free Agency, Rumors, Thoughts in General 2.0
But back to Dipo because that report is interesting. I'm struggling to find the team giving a late first for Dipo. I'll assume the young player is of no real significance.
So I'm going with Memphis dumping Brooks, giving up one of their young kids--all of whom pretty much can play a little but don't have tons of trade value and a heavily protected first. Don't feel great about it, but that's what I got.

I still think this is a possibility for the Knicks also. They have extra picks and can absorb most of Oladipo's salary, which will surely make Fertitta happy.

Nothing about this makes sense at all.
If Miami is making other trades now and is going to operate as an over the cap team next year, why not buy Dinwiddie's bird rights and see if you can resign him.
But sounds like their main deal is Lowry. If this is their fallback to Lowry not coming through I'm pretty underwhelmed. Miami can do this well or better in free agency.
But also what do the Nets want with Nunn? or that filler junk?
I really don't get it.
With the rate Irving misses games Nunn could be a nice fill in starter. Also he likely resigns for much less than Dinwiddie, which is a lot of real money that deep into the luxury tax.
Brooklyn should be leading the buyout market, as long as they have two guys they don't mind waiving (Do they already have roster spots available?) to make the trade work, they can then waive Bradley and Hark and replace them with buyouts.
Dinwiddie as sixth man for a year and then make Lowry sixth man the next year. I don't see an issue with finding enough PT for both of them especially if Herro and Dragic are leaving.

But Woj reported the Knicks specifically balked and would prefer to just make a run in free agency.

I hate it for both, but your logic makes sense.

Yep I still on board the Brooks/Dieng/Allen for Dipo/Exum with Memphis chipping in the Utah 1st and a 2nd or two.
I would prefer the Fournier for Dieng and 2 2nds option, safer but more boring.

He said the Knicks are reluctant to offer a "premium package". Guess it depends what everyone thinks that means

I doubt the Memphis FO is looking to dump Brooks. We can debate whether or not they should, but I don't think they will. If we make a win-now type move I expect the filler to be Dieng+Allen (which would leave us like 100k or less under the tax if we traded them for VO). Then you just have to figure out what kind of picks Memphis would be willing to add. Personally I'd only want to offer a couple 2nds. I think it probably takes the UTA 1st. Either way I would expect to lose him in FA or pay him way more than I care to.

If Detroit truly kicked the tyres on Oladipo, I wouldn't discount Detroit here. Sekou Doumbouya and the Toronto 2021 SRP (if they sell it could be <40th. Also Detroit could lessen protections on the FRP Houston is owed of theirs from the Ariza/#16 for Cap Space and heavily protected FRP made this past off-season (further protections added to include Wood S&T).
Sekou might be better than any other young player offer given he's raw as hell still but was #15OA in the 2019 draft and that might off-set the desire for the late first by offering a early second.

Sounds like I may be pleasantly surprised with the oladipo return
If they were getting those offers, Oladipo would already be dealt. Sounds a lot like they’re trying to drum up offers in the media.

I am guessing it is Denver.

If Denver is trading Harris and a FRP for Oladipo, I actually like the deal for the Nuggets. Oladipo may be one of the most inefficient players (not playing for Miami) but he is also an expiring.

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

They just signed alize Johnson to a ten day, but I’m pretty sure they have 2 open (1 actually open and one being used on alize)

Seems like the team best positioned for that would be the New York Knicks.

Yeah I might just take him for now and look to dump him in the off-season. But if this has legs, you just met one of the next temporary Oklahoma City Thunder.
