Open this thread for the first time ever, see an Ingram for Noel rumor. Can't help but wonder what dimension I have entered and if I will ever be able to leave.

I gotta say though, I do like the idea of the Kings working with Minnesota to sort something out for Rubio. This is a trading partnership that makes much more sense for both parties, although perhaps less for the Wolves. Depends on how they are valuing the Kings assets and what they want to do this year (short versus long term success... I imagine they will lean towards the bigger picture).

How would that even work?

There were also very reliable reports of them being interested in DAngelo Russell before the draft. I just don't think they understand their assets well enough and they are currently playing PG roulette by contacting a new team every week.

Is it a matter of throwing everything at the wall to see if it sticks? Especially with Buss and his promise to have a contender by this season or he gives up his role with the team? Maybe he's freaking out a little for his job.

Speaking of Rubio, Dan Feldman is reporting the Kings are interested in him - http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/08/16/rumor-kings-interested-in-ricky-rubio/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

As Glen Taylor said on this podcast a couple episodes ago, Ricky Rubio will start the season with the Wolves. But I can tell you, as I’ve said a number of times, the Sacramento Kings are a team to watch. Vlade Divac, George Karl, now George Karl into Dave Joerger. Keep an eye on the Sacramento Kings if slash when the Wolves decide to make a move on Ricky. But, again, nothing is imminent. Ricky Rubio will be with the Wolves opening night.

I think something built around Rubio for WCS would be interesting to both teams

To be clear I was talking about the Kings front office there.

I'm sorry. My fault for not fully reading.

However, the Lakers. Any read on that Buss situation?

I haven't kept up with how he's been since leaving the league but PF is our deepest position so this makes little sense.

Apparently he's closer to a small-ball 5 now than a 4 from what I was reading? But yeah. Supposedly team execs saw him in the USA/China exhibition match and liked what they saw.

That'll probably be a continuing power struggle between Jeannie and Jim but its become quite clear that he won't be jeopardizing the long term outlook to suit his timeline. May be Kupchak is standing on the opposite scale to have a checks and balances system working on every major decision.

Honestly I haven't seen a 7 ft player more allergic to contact than him. He straight up gets mugged on the boards by smaller players.

Randle might be an okay compliment for him then? Not saying I like a Randle Yi frontcourt, but at least in that area it might self correct a little?

Gotta think some of not all of the Yi signing is marketing appeal. Not just for the Asian community but as a name that will get talked about a bit more than the random guys left on the street.

Theoretically yes but if the idea was to find a compliment to Randle, they would have been better served absorbing Spencer Hawes and see if Charlotte might be willing to part with their pick with a lottery protection. At least you get good passing and a slightly more reliable shooting from him.

What? What happened to him taking a pay cut and a minimum deal? This escalated quickly in the wrong direction.

If this happens I Imagine Yi will be spending a bit of time at centre this season.

I like this for the Bucks. Really great teammate/leader and he's not just a mentor--he can give the team spot and situational minutes. Had really hoped he'd come back and retire as a Mav, but alas not to be.

I'm fine with that. But I don't like this for Terry. I still have Milwaukee missing the playoffs, and its hard to say to say no to 1.6m pre-tax in all, but the grind on your body at that age is tough. If he fades into the sunset at the trade deadline instead of finishing the season out I won't be surprised.
