Also doesn't this mean Richaun Holmes is not coming back next season? They dotn have enough cap-space

Early Bird rights allow for an offer of about 10.5M. I don't think anyone would be desperate enough to offer more than that - Charlotte?
I have the Kings with 8 players signed and about 14M in cap space next year if they make no more trades and decline all club options and non-guarantees, but that doesn't include the cap hold for their 1st round pick. If they want to keep Holmes they can trade down in the draft or find someone to take Wright or Bagley.
I think if a trade for Holmes was anticipated, he wouldn't have played tonight.

You gotta figure one of the following things is true:
a) They're going to trade him too
b) They're going to trade someone else (Hield, Barnes, Bagley) to create enough space to sign him
c) Their number for what he's worth (and what they'd resign him for) is right around what they can offer via early Bird rights

Man... I think Portland should look at Richaun Holmes. They should go hard for Gordon, and then use one of the young guys to get Holmes.

Are kings still trying to win now?

Jabari & a couple of seconds for Reggie Bullock.

On an unrelated note, after arguing vehemently 2 days ago, I'm becoming more sold on Lonzo than Smart. I still think Smart would have more trade value in real life, and the year gives him that I suppose (or maybe being more proven), but think I'm coming around a bit.

Not entirely sure still, but like both players too.

Detroit needs seconds like a wheat farmer needs rain, and they got them for someone the Mavs gave them for free. I give both teams a B/B+.

Did they need another guard with Fox, Hield, and Haliburton on the roster? Seems like a weird choice to use 2-2nd's on. I would give this a C- unless Hield is finally on the move...

All Holmes would do is take minutes from Kanter... is that really the priority? I like Holmes but that seems like a poor use of resources

Welcome to the dark side

Before this season, choice was easy for me. Smart. Think both players have such an interesting skill set from the guard position.

NOLA gets a bigman with outside playing and a veteran PG who is playing recently at 20ppg level
C's eat salaries, give up FRPs but add another young player whose age fits better with JT/JB
ORL rebuild with 4 FRPs
DENV gets AG

Good. 35 year old Lowry doesn't warrant Herro imo. I love Duncan, but this trade makes sense. They can have scores lAchiuwa to sweeten the pot. Supposedly they really like him. That, and expiring deals should be enough...

Yeah trading Herro for a 35 year old would be awful. I would even be hesitant about adding Precious in there but not sure what else they have in assets

If Lowry to Miami happens with Robinson in the deal, I want Dallas to jump in and try and get Robinson if the Raps don't want to pay him. Yes, I know we don't have something better to offer them, but I still want it....

Also Memphis should be trying to sell one or more of: Dieng, Anderson, Winslow, Brooks, Melton, Jones, Allen, JV. If the market doesn't have enough sellers and there are buyers for role players as the first two deals suggest--they should absolutely be trying to turn some of their too much depth into some future assets towards an eventual consolidation deal.

I don't expect it, but they absolutely should be selling some of the pieces above today.

I don't think Maxi is really a mid 40's 3 pt shooter, but if he's really a 40% guy and mostly from above the break that's a tough sell for me. But I do think Duncan Robinson in a Rick Carlisle offense creating space for Luka Doncic would be super fun.

Woj has Orlando at least listening on Vuc---as they absolutely should. But hard to see anyone meeting the price they seem to be putting on him.
