Great relief of cap ultimately, but everyone's either a 2 guard at heart, or a 4 at heart.

Farmar is being bought out I hear.

Surprised to hear that, he is kind of useful and not massively overpaid or anything.

I hear he opted in for this to happen. Apparently they've been discussing this deal since the draft and the hang up has been the Nets insistence on not including Brooks.

What I was told "Farmar wanted a buyout rather than opt out. He will be bought about for $1.5 million."

Take it FWIW, but this is from a VERY reliable and connected source.

Farmar played pretty well in spot starts last yr. It will be beneficial for him to get bought out and secure a longer deal. Who knows if he will get the minutes to showcase himself again this yr.

He's maintained he wants to start... I wouldn't be surprised if that is in Israel where he played last summer.

But yeah, he was having a very good year and shooting great percentages, but his injuries ruined his season.

He's one of the best backup PG's in the league but yea, no way any team signs him as a longterm starter.

Not long term but could be someone's stop gap options this year, esp for teams with rookie PGs they may not want to throw into the fire.

He's pretty consistent, conservative and can shoot. He's also not a defensive liability like most assume. He's just not that creative for a PG and limited athletically and talent wise. Good locker room guy and yeah, IMO a very good back up.

Yeah, I read it in the initial ESPN report, but it wasn't in the updated column. Not sure if maybe it was a "jump the gun" kind of assumption? Either way, it looks like he would get some major minutes if he stuck it out in Atlanta.

With Harris and Teague?
They also got in trade Morrow, Stevenson and drafted a SG.

As a Jazz fan I too believe we should get a pick out of this... we are giving them $7.5M in extra cap space to go after Dwight next season and sending them a former allstar pg who has at least 6-7 years left as he is only 29.

This also puts the Hawks in the drivers seat to land Dwight Howard as he and Josh Smith are close buddies... the test will be for the Hawks to either wait it out until next year and just sign him straight up with the cap space or send Horford who is on a great contract and Teague to the Magic for Dwight now.

But again the Jazz should be getting a future 1st out of this deal.

What's funny is that now apparently Josh Smith is happy with the direction of the Hawks. He wasn't happy when they were making the playoffs every year, but now that they've ripped the team into a lottery contender, he's happy?

Maybe Ferry has told him something that we don't know yet.

Basketball is still a business. Wouldn't you be happy too if you are now going to get so many offensive looks in a contract year?

Hes going to have prime AK47 type numbers next yr on a mediocre team.

Should get a nice new deal.

I'm totally fine with it, but then I have long been the one person that still believes Marvin Williams has more to show us. I think my optimism has even outlasted his family's :D We'll see if new surroundings make the difference...or not!

Haha the irony in all this is, I'm pretty sure Morrow is one of the players Dwight has said he wants to play with (correct me if I'm wrong and smoke too much).

He got work in San Antonio for a couple of years, where his biggest contribution was getting Danny Green from the Cavs' scrap heap into the Spurs.

Getting a guy from the worst team in the NBA post-Decision to a perennial contender (where Green went from benchwarmer to starter) showed that Ferry was shackled by LeBron in his time in Cleveland.

Of course, guys who have Spurs FO experience tend to overachieve when they become GMs themselves, as Sam Presti can attest.

Marvin and Harris both had MUCH higher percieved worth 2-3 yr ago,and now are both seen as almost as much bad contract as real asset. It's a deal where BOTH at least can hope the guy they got does better in a new context. Utah gets to pair Marvin and Favors...two all timers at LOOKING like future stars/studs....while not having the skills to make the prototype body that important.
Given that Harris' value has taken a dive...Marvin is about the return they could get. Uth has a history of doing well with players who have some talents and some flaws.
CENSORED... No comment.
