One of the three best players in the league, almost a lock to sign a long-term contract. A bona-fide genius on the basketball court.
Nominate: Ricky Rubio
A very raw version of Steve Nash, he can only get better.

I'm surprised to see Chris Paul's expiring contract here. We've already seen that he will force his way out to go where he wants, so for 25-28 teams, they are saying that his last 55 games with their team make him the #6 pick in the league.
I know everyone looks at the concept of "trade value" differently, but is this his value to LAC, or his value to the majority of the teams in the NBA?

I think he's one of 3 players who can change the direction of a franchise by himself.
I would have him 3rd or 4th really. Just havent paid much attention to it and dont like stating cases for something so subjective, because it likely wont influence someone one way or the other. For example, I dont think a currently injured Rose or the likely #6 Westbrook really belong in their current spots.. But I cant convince anyone otherwise, just like they couldnt convince me

That may be true, but he'd have to want to re-sign with your franchise!
Otherwise, an expiring deal on a UFA is just a value-killer.

Re: RGM's Top 25 Most Valuable Players - Vote for #6
I dont tend to think so. Guys like CP3 want that 5th year and true max. I feel it does diminish value, but thats why I'd likely put a Kyrie Irving type ahead of him. Defo not Rose or Melo. But its so subjective that I cant make any kind of conclusive argument for it.
But IMO, the ability to change a franchise trumps all, value wise. So Bron/Durant/CP3 are really, really tough to beat in my value book

Honestly, if the Lakers were doing better, I would have gone with Howard. But with how he's played and the concern over his back, I'm no longer so sure. But yeah, at the end of the day, those two are sure-fire franchise changers. Westbrook isn't. Rose isn't given the concerns over his knee. Neither is Irving. And that's the important thing in my book.

But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?
