They'll know if Melo is coming before the amnesty period begins. I think they can negotiate with Melo after July 1st, but amnesty starts July 10th--I think.

So if they don't sign Melo, they'll keep Boozer?

I think if discussions fall apart with melo, they'll still either trade Boozer or amnesty him and maybe try to go after Pau Gasol or something.

I think the only way the Bulls get Melo is in a S&T with Boozer going to NY. I don't think they'll send Gibson or Butler in the deal. But, I do think they'll offer Mirotic, both of this years picks and possibly a future 1st along with Boozer's expiring.

Let's say Pau, Melo and Deng end up elsewhere, would Chicago amnesty Boozer and make a Biedrins/Jefferson to Utah type deal to preserve their cap space for next offseason while picking up a pick or two or would they be better off keeping Boozer at that point?

Raptors draft day deal: Salmons and 20 for Perkins, 21 and 29

Later that summer: Perkins, Fields and two future firsts to Chicago for TPE

If the Bulls amnestied Carlos Boozer then traded Dunleavy, Butler and Gibson with their two first round picks to Minney for Love and Martin, how much cap space would be left?

By my quick calculation they are still ~7.6 million over. In your scenario they would shed ~32.8 million while taking on ~22.5 million for a difference of ~10.3 million. They are currently ~17.9 million over. This leaves them still over by ~7.6 million.

Updated OP on 7/12 to reflect updated salary amount for Joakim Noah. He got $500,000.00 more guaranteed because of bonuses in his contract that are now considered "likely".

They have traded Anthony Randolph and took back no salary so if you have an update forthat.

It looks like Carlos Boozer has one more day left in his Bulls career, just how much spendable cap space will those two moves leave them to sign anybody?
