OKC: Kanter

Why for Portland:
Could use a scoring big, Olshey has a thing for trading two 2nd round picks

Why for OKC:
Gain a couple of assets in a salary dump

He's worth a little more than salary dump. You want to talk Ed Davis maybe?

no. Davis at $6,980,802/$6,666,667/$6,352,531 is more valuable than Kanter at $16,407,500/$17,145,838/$17,884,176/$18,622,514.

A top-level 3&D guy. Which won't happen.

2 seconds is awful value, though, and you guys have tons of cap space.

Just going over the top with unrealistic-ness for a trade in theory. If Durant said he would sign long-term in OKC if they got another superstar rather than the 1+1, how does 'Melo fit in between Durant and Adams?

Serge Ibaka, Enes Kanter and Cameron Payne for Carmelo Anthony and Jose Calderon?
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

Back to the realm of reality involving two teams I'm not a fan of:

Enes Kanter for Rodney Stuckey, C.J. Miles and Rakeem Christmas?

Not an over the top return, but a few solid pieces.

And some luxury tax wiggle room.

Considering the luxury tax breathing room from my deal, do you like it at all? I know it's underwhelming, but I think C.J. Miles, Rakeem Christmas and Rodney Stuckey could all provide value to OKC's bench.

Eh, I'd rather the Taj one. I don't know where Miles would be in the rotation.

It's not out of the realm of reality, though, right? I just think it clears up a log-jam for Indy and puts a good fit at center next to Myles Turne. For OKC, it clears some luxury tax room and I think C.J. Miles would do well in the Dion Waiters role for a better price. Stuckey's flaws would really be hidden next to Westbrook, too.

It's not bad (and I like Christmas as a project), but one of Miles or Stuckey is likely to be nailed to the bench. Or worse, playing over one of our youngsters. And I have a hard time seeing the Pacers wanting Kanter.

Pretty much what dbrandon said. I'm not sure how much they play and I'd kinda rather roll w/ the young guys.

What teams best make sense for Kanter? The problem with the Bulls offer is that Taj Gibson is one of the reasons he fits with Chicago so dealing him for Kanter doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah we're likely not good trade partners for a Kanter deal. We wouldn't have interest in Kanter at this point and I highly doubt OKC wouldn't be able to get a better offer than that.

And no interest in Dwight, I'd rather Adams at this point in his career.

Is there a wing equivalent to Kanter in terms of salary and offense vs. defense? I'm having a rough time thinking of an offensive spark-plug wing player that is considered good, but overpaid that would be a good one-for-one deal involving Kanter, I'll do more thinking later on this and try to find a good one.

What kind of wing would need to be brought back to consider the inclusion of Cameron Payne?

Wes Matthews is a similar contract.

I'd prefer something w/ a wing and bench big coming back, if PDX was interested something like Davis/Crabbe. Something like that would be a good return to me.

I'd take this and run. If this happened, then I don't see us resigning soon b/c Crabbe is far better in terms of consistency and we can make him better

Carroll
Baynes & Meeks
Ellis
Matthews
Asik
Chandler
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Kanter for Wes Matthews? Matthews wasn't that good last year, but he should be more effective this season and if near his Portland form is exactly what OKC need.
