Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

I wasn't *quite* as down on Rose's value as some, so this is interesting.

I fully believe in "disguised salary dumps" and I think RoLo falls into this category...not a bad player but the Knicks believe they can do better with that capspace next year, and I'm tempted to believe that too.

Nice deal for Chicago in terms of getting back useful pieces.

Is Phil Jackson being consulted by Isiah Thomas?

This seems to be aimed at cap space as much as anything. They might try to sign Howard this year. Next, then can hope to land CP3, and he makes a ton of sense with that team. It's all about finding a good cheap two-guard at this point.

Unless the Knicks sign an all start caliber player (not Dwight) with the extra cap space, this trade is an utter failure for us.

Definitely didn't think Rose had that kind of value so if you have to much Crow on your plate Chuck then feel free to pass some of it over my way.

Getting rid of Rose is a great Move, especially if you get something back that actually has a some worth!

Another trade I like both ways. Rose fills a need for the Knicks. And he wasn't bad in the second half last year.

And I love the haul for the Bulls. Lopez gives them a reliable presence at C. And it clearly means that Chicago is Butler's team. I can't see them dealing him now.

Mild win for the Bulls. Lopez is a good player on a generous deal, I don't think he's that valuable.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Seems like a lot of value for Knicks to give up. I guess Bulls 2nd could be as valuable as Grant.

Same old Knicks. Hard to believe that Mr. Thomas is not still calling the shots.

Yeah, same. This speaks to NY wanting to be a major player in next year's FA class—and hey, if you get to kick the tires on Rose maybe recovering, why not?

That being said, I think the Bulls got decent value out. I'm not a big fan of gambling on FA.

5 point guards were traded today and the Suns weren't involved? Shocking!

If you are NY in this escalating cap age you swing big clearing space helps that.

Quinn is serviceable signed long term at low contract with Porzingus spending some time at the 5.

It will be interesting to see if Chi is retooling or rebuilding and will send Lopez, Gibson out.

Getting Dwight would be the next logical move for the Knicks. He did mention this off season that he always wanted to play under Phil Jackson.
