If I was a GM I wouldn't even call his agent.

It's insane, but someone will definitely offer him something around 4/60 if he passes a workout and whatnot.

this news about a max contract sounds like spice from his agent to drum up his value. im guessing he gets 12/yr
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

I don't think he'll sniff max right now. I can see 3 years for 40 with an option on the 3rd.

Could the Knicks get him on a 2 year, $44 Million deal with the second year being non-guaranteed?

Basically, the Knicks get their draft pick next year and start building around Porzingis through the draft until 'Melo expires, but keep the impatient NY media distracted from the long term patience it takes to build a team through the draft with flashy names like 'Melo, Rose and Noah. The Knicks have a terrible 2016-17 season after Rose and Noah get hurt, the media/fans blast Phil Jackson as he plays dumb like he actually thought the Knicks were going to be good (when he really knew they wouldn't be the whole time) and gets a top 5 2017 draft pick with cap space for two MAX free agents around 'Melo, Porzingis and their top 5 pick.
Disclaimer: Trades I post shouldn't make you stressed or angry if you disagree. If you say it's unproductive because it won't happen and we're only allowed to post deals that actually happen, it takes away 99% of trades here and the fun out of the board.

He's talked about KG being a player that he admired, so I think they'd get along just fine.

I'm going to guess he signs with New York for 2 years, $38 Million (with a team option on the second year).

Best Case - Everything clicks and the Knicks make the playoffs.

Worst Case (Realistic Case) - Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah get hurt, the Knicks land a top 5 pick in a really solid looking 2017 draft class and have enough cap space for 2 MAX free agents in a deep free agent class to add to Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and a top 5 2017 pick.

If the Washington Wizards reported 4 year/ $120 million offer is true, he will obviously sign for that. I can't imagine him passing up that kind of insane offer.

3 years, $45-50 mil (with no player option) is probably the highest I'd want NY to go... coming from someone who really wants NY to sign him.

I think with the stacked free agent class of bigs and the league moving to small ball, he won't get the crazy offers people are expecting.

With his injury history, his age, declining mobility, not being a shooting threat, for all the things he does bring, I'm going to say $6-7 million a year for 3 years is really all anybody is going to offer him. If you sign him for more as your starter and he gets hurt you probably don't have a backup that can start and a 3rd string who isn't ready.

He may or may not want to play in Chicago anymore but as a backup to Lopez and occasional starter he'd be in good shape.

Based on his injury history, age, and recent production, can't see anyone giving him more than a 2 year contract at 10-12 mill.
I personally, wouldn't pay more than a 2 year 7-8 mill per year, but I am sure someone will roll the dice on him.

Noah is too past his prime to ride the 1+1 boat and bet on his future. He is the player version of 'win now' mode.
