Just curious how Parsons choosing to go to Memphis screwed Dallas. What am I missing here?

And should it be worth noting that Parsons has left both of his NBA teams in a manner that did not go over well with the franchises or fans?

Parsons didn't screw us.. Or leave us in a bad way at all. Most Dallas fans don't blame him for leaving, this is actually the first I've seen of it. He'd be on the team if we didn't dream of adding two "better" players and put him on ignore.

Houston, he left in a bad way probably. They hoped to use his small cap hold to sign FA's and then bring him back. He didn't wait for it to come together.

Dallas? We, very openly, planned to use the cap space he wanted us to use on him on Conley and Whiteside. So he left. It's understandable.

A lot of Dallas fans complain about how he was consistently injured? So maybe that's half the "screwed" comment.. And I like Parsons in Memphis more than Portland.. I wouldn't want Portland starting Aminu and CP. That would make me sad as a Mavs fan. And I love the fit in Memphis.

I want Memphis to be good this year SO MUCH. If those guys can stay healthy that's a fantastic, tough, battle-tested playoff team, and I think one that might have a chance at GSW. Everyone talks about how they schemed Allen off the floor, but Allen was also too hobbled that series to punish them for leaving him open—he's normally an excellent cutter. And Draymond actually struggles with big, skilled true centers.

Agreed. I love Memphis team and will be rooting for them. They actually have a drastically different style of play and team structure that could give GSW and SAS a run. Parsons makes so much sense for this team. It will 100% be a matter of: Will Memphis be healthy come April?

Dallas' offseason was quietly good. Quincy Acy and Seth Curry are two GREAT signing. Harrison Barnes is the right high-risk, high reward move that we finally needed to make (and worse-case scenario is we have a young, overpaid 3&D player for the next 4-years). I do think Barnes is capable of more than he's shown, but he's got too far to climb to be an All-Star. Good news is his work ethic is great, he plays good defense and he has a master of a coach (not to mention for the next 2-years, he will have space to operate with Dirk Nowitzki alongside him).

We overpaid for Dwight Powell, but I like him. I wish we got him for 2-million per year less, but this may force us to give him minutes and let him actually develop and work through mistakes. I expect to see a lot of Dwight Powell + Quincy Acy in a small-ball PF-C combo next year. If we throw Justin Anderson at SF (and a lesser extent HB), our rebounding won't suffer too much for minimal stretches.

Justin Anderson is the guy that Dallas really needs to develop. If he can show a consistent touch for the perimeter and improve his defense, Dallas could have a solid rotation with Anderson, Barnes & Matthews at the wings.

Bogut was a great pickup. No need to bang that drum. Excellent move.

I like what we did. We are younger, will still make the playoffs and I'd expect we'll quietly do better than anyone imagines. And, can't forget how amazing it will be to watch Dirk Nowitzki continue to be an efficient leading scorer for this team going on his 19th season in the NBA. It's quite impressive how he's been able to continually be one of the best offensive players in the league, despite his age. Will soak up the next couple of years.

I give the offseason a B. Not landing a big fish forces me to not give it an A rating.

I went with B. Carlisle is a fantastic coach, and he has a tough job ahead. Barnes? I'll believe it when I see it. Bogut? Can he stay healthy and play more than 20 mpg? How much does Dirk have left? Will any of these young guys pan out? 7th seed is about the max imo.
