Portland sends CJ, 15, 20 for Butler
Philly sends 3 and Okafor for CJ
Chicago sends Butler for 3, 15, 20, and Okafor

Who says yes/no? As a PDX fan I'd be willing to go that high for Butler (but just barely, and that's the absolute most I'd offer). I think the Bulls would actually be better off taking CJ themselves, but if they want to go really young and fully rebuild that's a nice package. And CJ is the perfect fit for Philly to play off of Simmons and Embiid but it depends whether they're ready to start pushing for the playoffs or want to continue accumulating assets.

Kings like where they are, so I agree - they are out. Bulls have no interest in Okafor, but may be up for a full rebuild. Portland needs a backup PG after trading McCollum. Philly has a slew of picks to add to the deal. I suggest:

POR sends CJ, 15, 20 and 26 for Butler and Cam Payne
PHI sends 3, 36, 39, Sacto 2019 1st, Nets 2d round pick 2018, Sacto 2d round pick 2019 for CJ
CHI sends Jimmy and Payne for 3, 15, 20, 26, 36, 39, Sacto 2019 1st, Nets 2d round pick 2018, Sacto 2d round pick 2019

POR essentially trades CJ, 15 and 20 for Butler, and 26 for Cam Payne.

PHI gets the shooter they need in CJ, plus they get to keep Saric and the 2018 LAL 1st, plus they still have a bunch of second round picks.

CHI starts its rebuild with a lot of picks that they can use to go get the players they want.

I have no interest in adding the Laker pick or the Kings pick with #3 to get McCollum.

Okafor is not getting it done. At some point you will have to and want to consolidate those picks into a top 25 player.

What would you offer for Butler directly?

as usual, you always have plenty of fans here poo-pooing even the fairest of trades. i agree that other than MAYBE Sacramento, none of these other 3 fanbases should be b****ing about anything here. And even for Sac, it depends on what their management thinks. if they REALLY favor 1 guy between Jackson/Fox/tatum, then i think they should do it to ensure they get their guy. But if they seriously dont care which one they get, then yea keep them out of the trade. In fact, with their draft history, theyre better off just staying at 5 and letting Philly/Phoenix make the choice for them

PHI sends 3, 36, 39, Sacto 2019 1st, Nets 2d round pick 2018, Sacto 2d round pick 2019 for CJ

I hope this is a different CJ than the one I think it is...

Never suggested Okafor would get it done. And I only referenced McCollum, not Butler. I would pay more for Butler then McCollum.

But,,, the Bulls will never go full rebuild. Do they resign Rondo, does Wade stay? Look at what you leave them with

Grant Payne #16
Valentine Henderson #20
Okafor Felicio
Portis #15
Zipser #5

that's a joke of a roster for 2-4 years

In a normal year that's a fine enough start for a rebuild, but in this draft I'm not seeing an appreciable difference from 14 or so down to the mid second round.

That's how it always is. Coming up with fair value isn't too hard, but getting fans to agree in the direction of their team is very difficult.

As for the trades mentioned, it's a yes for me aside from the addition of the SAC or LAL pick. 3 for McCollum is fair and I'm not willing to overpay significantly because he's really good friends with Lillard and enjoys the legal weed in Portland.

So you would do:

POR sends CJ, 15, 20 and 26 for Butler and Cam Payne
PHI sends 3, 36, 39, Nets 2d round pick 2018, Sacto 2d round pick 2019 for CJ
CHI sends Jimmy and Payne for 3, 15, 20, 26, 36, 39, Nets 2d round pick 2018, Sacto 2d round pick 2019

I'd hate to get only one lottery pick for Butler, but this draft is pretty deep, so this might work from the Bulls' end. They would suck next year and the year after (at least), and thus have their own lottery picks to add to the mix.

Question for the Philly fans: are you more interested in CJ or Butler? How much more would you offer for Butler than for CJ?
