Correct, I will clarify the rules.

This would have to be negotiated at the time of the draft tho. Simply attaching a 2nd and $3M may not get a team to pick Chris Paul and frankly if it was, you wouldn't even have to give that because they'd want him for other reasons.

Golden State Warriors

Protect:
Steph Curry
Klay Thompson
Draymond Green
Kevon Looney
Marquese Chriss
Damion Lee
Eric Paschall
Alen Smailagic

Expose:
Andrew Wiggins
Mychal Mulder
Jordan Poole
Ky Bowman
Juan Toscano-Anderson

UFA:
Dragon Bender
Chasson Randle

Depending on the outside opinion regarding Looney's health, I could expose him to save Mulder or Poole, but Myers might protect him as a gesture of respect. Lee's age makes him a less likely target as well, but they wouldn't send that message to the Currys. I'd also expose Wiggins if it helped to keep both of those guys, and dare an expansion team to take on the 29.5M for 3 more years, but I won't give up substantial compensation to do so.

In any event, I don't see the Warriors losing anyone that they can't replace; even if it were Wiggins, we'd still have the lottery pick, the tax MLE, and two massive TPEs :)

Oh I'm sure, but for some players it might be enough? When Charlotte did it they could do trades before the draft, really this is to make it so people can see what might be available off the bat, but it looks like it might not work how I imagined (but that's fine).

Thank you! Fortunately I had just gotten some. I've heard dollar stores have been better, as well as Sam's if you have it (I'm in T-Town, I have not seen any in a while). If anyone is in Tuscaloosa I have access to a building at UA and I will absolutely take toilet paper out of the bathroom and give it to you, lol

Portland's top 7 are easy. The 8th spot choosing between Ariza and Hood is a bit more tricky. I am going to go with Ariza because I think we are trying to be as good as possible next season and I have no idea how Hoods recovery is going.

I don't think Looney will get picked up with 2 years $10 mil left and no indication that he can stay healthy.

I could see both Lee and Mulder getting taken seeing as how they can both hit open 3s and are serviceable defenders.

I doubt Bowman shows up on anyone's radar considering how raw he still is.

Miami Heat

Protected
Jimmy Butler
Bam
Tyler Herro
Kendrick Nunn
Duncan Robinson
KZ Okpala
Chris Silva
Kelly Olynyk(if he opts in)

The final spot is a toss up between KO & Iggy, and ultimately I feel that KO may opt out and force it to be Iggy anyway. None of the other 7 are even remotely touchable in this exercise. The number of UFA we have this summer makes it hard to get give many options here.

I’m leaving THJ out there because if he is picked up, Dallas can be players in FA this offseason. Not that we’d be likely so sign anyone worthwhile, but it’s always fun to be a bridesmaid.

If the expansion team picks up THJ, he’d help them reach their salary floor while being useful on the court...and Dallas would bump over 20 million cap space.

I see you solved my Boban/Wright debate by just protecting both. :D

And I guess there is even a chance THJ opts out and solves the issue that way though I have to think he only opts out if Dallas has promised him a new long-term deal which I'm not understanding doing this off-season.

Off topic..
I think if our roster looks the same (THJ/Curry/Wright/Brunson) we are trading Wright this offseason. I think Curry is more important and THJ’s expiring is needed for 2021. Wright should be dealt for a forward and the MLE used on a big that can play with Maxi/KP. Or flip that, I don’t care. I think we kept Wright for this season only.

But if we do extend THJ, I’ll go back to CP trade ideas since 2021 would be realistically shot.

Interesting decision to protect Harris here. If I'm Denver, I'd want out of that contract. I think I'd rather protect KBD who, in my mind, has the higher upside.

Basically the same as thinkingwarriors (above)... with basically the same reasoning. Smiley is on shakey ground as far as being protected as I could see either Looney or Mulder getting that last protection spot also. But when it comes down to it, they spent 2x 2nd rd picks on the kid and he's super young, so I'm guessing they'll want to keep him around.
