As others have said, this makes no sense from the Heat perspective. Butler came to Miami to win, and Pat needs to get him a chance. Moving back to developing Barrett and a pick? Sorry but no.

The chance they get a better FA than Butler is way higher so its worth the gamble. Bam will be better than Butler anyway worst case.

What if NY included Randle?

Miami is all in on 2021 which is why they will not sign Bam until then. No chance they do Randle unless it came with 3 unprotected picks.
It has to be exactly RJ+6 if I am Riley.

You know randle's 21-22 salary is only guaranteed for $4 million right? I wouldn't trade Butler for the #6 and RJ and Randle doesn't make it any better, but there is no way or need to add 3 unprotected picks. I just don't see Randle as that negative.

He sat out home games for rest then did not attend the game (Utah). He skipped pregame shoot around and was totally unreachable leading the the team not knowing if he was gonna show up, then strolled in minutes before tipoff (Milwaukee). I'm guessing that relationship is pretty damaged.

Yeah I'm having a hard time buying the "coach he loves" angle after the Minnesota debacle.

100% this.

Miami does not need to rebuild, nor will they. They'll utilize their space to augment what they have. Not trading Butler...
