Green for Horford and picks: your take?

Green means Go: Sixers win. They trade a redundant, expensive luxury for a need and don't have to add that much.

Green around the gills: Thunder win. They're cycling through productive vets and still adding picks along the way.

Wait in the Green room: both sides win. Philly improves on the court and OKC improves their stash.

The Grass is always Green-er: both sides lose. Green is more rep than production, and OKC didn't get paid enough for taking on Horford.

I’ll want to know the details on the pick, but that’s a brilliant move by OKC. They get a pick and Horford has real potential as a reclamation project. Even if that doesn’t work, it’s still fine. Their ability to accumulate assets from veteran pieces continues to amaze.

I like the move for the Sixers too. Horford was a poor fit there. Green doesn’t have much left but he’ll play a role, and this will help Harris have a better and more defined role.

Trade helps both teams IMO.

Huge win for Philly. Getting off a fairly large amount of future money and getting a useful player in Green for what is likely a late future 1st and a 2nd.

I feel like he's been overrated for a while now. He's been the beneficiary of playing alongside some very good defenders since he left the Hawks and it makes him appear far better than he is on that end.

Seems like the Lakers deal is getting folded into this one so Ferg and Danny can both be involved?

Love the picks though.

When Horford returns a neutral to positive package next off-season, it’ll be really impressive.

It is unfortunate that Danilo Gallinari is leaving, because OKC has improved from last season.

Ricky Rubio /
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander / Luguentz Dort
Kelly Oubre / Hamidou Diallo
Al Horford / Darius Bazley
Steven Adams

Throw in Danilo, and that is a damn solid roster. In any case, solid trade for OKC. I feel they should have held out for slightly more, though, especially with the inclusion of Ferguson. That said, if they feel they can rehabilitate Al Horford a bit and he contributes positively to the team, it could be far worse.

2nds this draft have been expensive so a nice pickup there. And the 1st in 2025 could be nice.

Very solid deal for Philly. Not only do you clean up a mistake in Horford, adding Green as a defender/floor spacer will really help their team.

Simmons/Green/Richardson/Harris/Horford

Wouldn't be surprised to this expanded with Philly taking back additional pieces from a 3rd team - they have about $15MM or so to play with in a trade and need bench help.

I like the move for the 2025 pick. Why tf not? Who knows what Philly will be by then. Embiid could walk in FA in 2023 if they don't sort out their trajectory. Maybe Simmons is moved for Harden who by then will probably be washed. Just so much variability. They're in position to take a flier on a guy that's a decent rebound candidate.

I feel like OKC should have gotten more to take Horford. Green had value on his own.

Horford was trash last year playign next to Embiid. Why would he be anything else playing next to Adams? Rubio is woooooooooooooorlds below what CP3 was last year. Even if you don't think CP3 can replicate that, that's irrelevant if you're comparing to 19-20 because what he did is what he did, regardless of the future. Oubre is not that good and probably nuetral to Schroeder.

No way they're better than last year.

I'm shocked jts so little to take Horford. I thought it would need at least Thybulle. Good work by Philly.

Horford or Adams would obviously slide to backup, if Gallinari returned.

It’s Morey and Presti. They both know exactly what they are doing here. And both probably correctly think they won the trade. Philly trying to win now. Sam is setting up a truckload of picks years from now that as HW said are high variance.

A steal for the sixers so long as they don't bottom out by 2025. For the thunder At the end of next season when the final year is only half guaranteed that contract becomes an asset becuase it can be traded for a player who basically has a max salary slot and that team can take back half the money. Good job to the sixers for getting rid of it, I see why OKC did what they did but I would have held out for more. At least Horford will be a good role model for the young players.

They're using cap space so they don't have to aggravate Greens salary. It could end up as a three way trade but doesn't need to be for any reason

Any Philly picks over the next few years seems certain to be late. In 2025 - there's a chance it's higher. I think that makes it better for OKC.
