TnT overvalue cap space and wildly undervalue good wings.

Why do we have to believe Indiana made an offer at all?

Sent from my phone.

Why believe we didn't at all? Why are we here? Why do we live and how many lives do we have?

We don't know, I know, I'm not entirely sure and 9 :) .

As is Rozier.

Ball/Rozier/Hayward is a pretty solid 1-3.

Both Rozier and Hayward are plus shooters, Rozier can guard the best backcourt player on the other team.

From Charlotte's perspective, I'm concerned on the extra year vs the extra money. I would feel a lot better with 3 years, $98MM vs 4 years, $120.

I don't hate Hayward on Charlotte in a vacuum if their goal is to get out of the cellar and surround Ball/Graham/PJ/Bridges with some solid vets (which, maybe isn't the best plan to begin with). But holy hell that is way too much money to commit to a 34 year old Hayward.

Honestly, it looks like the Hornets are committed to building around Lamelo, which is great. If Lamelo, develops, the Hornets can be a scary team.

My thoughts exactly. If the Hornets believe Ball is the real deal (regardless of whether others agree: some do and some don't) then a wing who can shoot and serve as secondary playmaker is exactly the kind of piece you want next to him. In that sense it's a good move.

But not for $30M/yr for 4 years. Yee-ikes. Charlotte is *just* kicking off a rebuild and this is absolutely not the right time to pay that much money, for that long, for that age.

I could see Batum to Randle for Batum + picks, but Boston paying the picks to NY so they can create the TPE on Hayward.

In fairness to Charlotte, their books are pretty empty going forward. Going into next season, they have 8 players under contract, including Hayward for $71MM, so about $37MM in cap space to play with, less whatever hold for their first round pick. Rozier is their only non rookie scale player outside of Rozier, and is expiring. So even if they are overpaying GH by 5-7MM per year, they have so much flexibility going forward that it likely won't matter for offseason 2 and 3 of the contract (this being offseason 1). The last year can be some cause for concern, but it's an expiring deal at that point.

Zeller makes the most sense IMO. That or a Rozier reunion, but the second year makes that seem less likely IMO

I don't see Hayward health making the deal worth it.

WOW! $30 million a year! I can tell you one thing he won't be playing in Indiana for that kind of money. At least now all those Celtics fans can quit telling us how Indiana is giving them Turner for a guy who doesn't want to be in Boston anymore!!

Feels like CHA overpaid by about 20M.

At least they actually get Hayward on the roster this time, unlike the last time they signed him.

yeah if he cant stay healthy this is a terrible play, but they must really think they can leapfrog years of rebuilding by adding him and Ball in one offseason. I dont buy it but they def will be a treadmill team as usual after this.

per year or total?

4/100 would still have been an awful contract

I’m actually warming up to this, especially if Rozier is involved that means Hayward is the only non rookie scale contract on team. Hayward compliments Ball really well and probably can really help him succeed. Price tag is steep for sure, but it shows a commitment to build around Ball.

4/100 would have been defensible, IMO (assuming you agree with the overall plan). Would have preferred 3/90 over 4/100, but Charlotte got the worst of both worlds
