I don’t really understand Washington’s direction.

Agreed. Wall healthy should be an interesting fit with Harden. Hes a more willing passer. Plus we get the Wall + cousins combo finally! With wood and tucker.

I just don't know about trading for Wall sight unseen after that injury.

I know, right?

Houston must be comfortable knowing they could recoup insurance money if John is not fully fit.

Apparently Russ didn't report to camp. not sure if it was because he just didn't want to or because the trade was already in the works. Apparently Wall posted an IG story with tuckers shoes or something hours ago, so seems like this was in the works before this reporting?

Edit: for those curious, harden did report and has been in houston for awhile already before camp

If you're the Rockets, you have to be thinking this is your last chance to placate Harden before things become untenable. If don't see much difference between turning the team over to Wall or Westbrook and being late lottery afterwards. Might as well grab the extra pick.

Wasn’t there reports of Harden for Wall like a week ago? Or was it Westbrook? All I know is Washington and Houston have been talking for sometime now.

Westbrook lol harden for wall would be the worst deal of all time even if Wiz threw in every pick and swap they had

Brodie is going to have driving lanes for days playing with Bertans and Beal. Like this deal a lot for Washington.

I kinda like Washington’s roster if Russ gets healthy and some of their young guys develop a bit. Sneaky fun team and probably right there with ATL for that 8th seed barring injuries

Sure but to be fair I’ve been of the very few hoping the Rockets blow it up for years now. I did not like the Rockets style of play for several years now and thought it was finally over but this happened. And even if they trade Harden we are stuck with Wall.

Protections make this pretty terrible for Houston. Maybe it works out but it's bad process.

Lottery protected first to Houston. I really like the deal for the Wizards

Please tell me Wall’s contract is the same length or hopefully shorter. Please don’t say it is longer with no way out.

I love this for Washington. Only one protected pick to turn Wall coming off an Achilles tear and 2 full years off into a top 15 player who is an incredible fit with their game plan offensively? Are you kidding me?

Also does this pick expire after 2021?

Want to see pick protections first; but knee jerk is win win.

Washington gets a new backcourt mate for Beal, Houston gets a new one for Harden (if he stays).

their contracts are identical. 3 years $131,544,000 total with a player option after two years (which won't matter)

That's assuming Wall can stay on the floor though. I don't think a lotto protected first is worth that risk for Houston

John Wall just made twenty million dollars from this trade because of his trade kicker, plus Texas has no state income tax. Great for him financially.

Trade kicker is null because he's already at the max salary
