Grant was never realistically attainable. Silly for anyone to be upset over that.

Vuc went for a king's ransom that I think few Celtics fans wanted to pay.

Barnes is just a solid player on a multi year, sizable commitment. Wouldn't make sense to give any real value for him if SAC is demanding that. Salary relief? Alright, fine. Anything more... easy call to pass.

Gordon is an intriguing piece that you can talk yourself into having room to grow. Expensive, but could be justified. We'll see if BOS can rekindle those. If he's moved for too high a cost though, I won't be mad we didn't match.

Good deal for Boston. Surprised ORL couldn’t get a late 1st here. They must have really valued the cap space.

Either way I think ORL still having a hell of a deadline and BOS having a decent one now as well

By itself this is fine. Even decent value for Boston. But at this point you need to fork over the additional value and get Gordon as well. He's the need.

Hard to knock the deal for boston. they basically gave up nothing for a legit rotationp player.

On the other hand, While they really lack dpeth, they need more of an offense creator then another guy that brown/tatum will freeze out. I really liked Lonzo for them

Didn't Boston give 2 2nds for the TPE in the Hayword signing? So a half season of Fournier is actually 4 2nds if the TPE isn't used further.
The key is not the ‘will to win’… everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important

Yeah good player--only cost is part of the TPE. Hard to call that anything but a win. He's their 4th, maybe 5th best player walking in the door. For nothing.
Did they not even give up a 2nd? That's a win, but man they had sights held so high. They need to follow up with another big move.

The tweet says Boston is giving up two 2nds. There are also rumblings the deal might still be expanded so that could change.

At the least, a Carson Edwards or someone salary dump to get under the tax line, for sure.

But so far, Boston has paid 4 2nds to turn Gordon Hayward into Fournier? The price has to be paid if you’re losing Hayward anyway, but dang.

Not a great return for Orlando, but considering it gets them out of the luxury tax and significantly lowers their salary cap number, it's a smart move for a non-playoff team.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

It must be asked:

Would you rather of Fournier or Turner+McDermott?

Both teams met their goals. Fournier may have helped Orlando win a game or two they did not want to win. They basically move a player that had no intentions of resigning with them for two 2nds. Boston gets their shooter to help with the loss of Hayward. Great get for them. Next season though, they have to pay him or lose him along with the picks.

There is always a price to pay. I like the cost vs value for both teams.

half season rental. Orlando front office should have moved him last year. cant see teams willing to pay much more than that for Evan for these last few months

Eh, at least it's something of value and we aren't just letting him walk in the off-season, because we certainly weren't going to be paying him.

That said, I'm a little surprised we couldn't find a contender willing to shell out a late first round pick for someone averaging nearly 20 a game. Maybe it's just because the Celtics were able to work in their exception, but still. I wonder if the Celtics tried to push at all for a Vucevic and Fournier combination deal.

I feel like both teams would've been better off if the Celtics sent a first with salary, stayed out of the tax, and preserved the full TPE for the summer. I wonder of the salary savings were that import to the Magic.

hugepatsfan wrote:What an awful deal for BOS. Team is f-ing trash and Fournier ain't fixing it in HALF a season. And now pretty much and chance at landing an actual difference maker into the TPE is gone with like $10-11M left.

The only positive spin here could be that I guess BOS could re-sign Fournier with bird rights and still have the MLE to use this offseason. But that probably requires ownership to go a lot damn deeper into the luxury tax than any ownership group should be willing to for Evan Fournier and a mini-MLE player.

Is this a joke? Lmao

Its technically Fournier and Tristan vs Turner and McD. Plus still $11M potentially from TLE

I would probably want full season turner thiugh

I'm grading this deal alongside not getting AG, which they should've done since AG went for bad salary, a meh prospect, and a 1st.

Its either neither or Orlando. Fournier is not that good, cant play D, doesnt impact winning, Boston could have ate better money

There is no proof that this was ever truly on the table. This conversation is irrelevant.
