This takes them out of the Lowry sweepstakes?

2022 swap option with the Nets has the potential to trade Houston up 5-10 spots in next years draft.

Yeah, how dare we get better.

So now Oladipo makes you better, huh?

But yeah, this seems like a unification that should happen, as now its easier for Miami to re-sign him and keep all the cap holds and what not, rather than getting skinny this offseason for cap space.

For the price? Yeah, he does. We keep Achiuwa, Nunn, and Robinson, and have a spot open for Aldridge. Looks good to me.

Pg: Nunn / Dragic
Sg: Oladipo '/ Herro
Sf: Butler / Robinson / Iggy
Pf: Aldridge? / Bjelica / Ariza
Cc: Bam / Achiuwa

And next year we can use our MLE...

Miami is getting Oladio on the super cheap, but isn't that backcourt awfully crowded now?

Hopefully the draft swap means Miami will get serious this offseason about improving the team. In that case I would consider the deal a win. I do not now and call this what it is--a win for the Rockets, who needed one.

Glad the Pacers pulled the trigger on the LeVert trade when they did, cuz this is nothing.

Apparently Dipo has been awful for the Rockets though, he was playing pretty well for the Pacers, not as great as he once did, but not bad either.

He takes Avery Bradley's position.

I have been harping on Dipo not being worth anything since the start of this off season. Despite some not liking my TS% takes, efficiency is a modern day NBA trend.

I rate Smart over Dipo simply because of Smarts great contract.

gom wrote:Really bummed about losing Olynyk & Avery Bradley (a player who could make a difference in a tough postseason matchup). I'm compelled to cheer for my team's players of course, but Oladipo has a lot to prove to make him worth a deal in the offseason. Now he has a motivation though.

If we had to choose a guard, I prefer Kyle Lowry (a lot). He'll be available in the offseason though.

The potential difference Oladipo, if healthy, could make in a playoff series far outweighs what Barldey could bring to the table.

And Bejilca offsets the loss of Olynyk.

Miami did a very good job of raising the potential of their roster without sacrificing much in the way of the future.

Marcus Smart >>>>>>>>>> oladipo

I really like Marcus Smart. He'd be perfect in Miami.

I have this as a clear win for Miami and a loss for Houston. Like, I get that Houston wasn’t going to keep Dipo, but there had to be a better move than an unlikely pick swap.

Yeah, Smart's value should certainly be higher, but using TS% as the gauge of player value is a take.

Also this was a trade for nothing. Even with this Oladipo its a win for Miami.

They have Nunn and Dragic at PG

Oladipo and Herro at SG

Butler and Robinson at SF

Bejelicia and Ariza at PF

Adebayo and Awchuia at C

So, in theory, Houston gave up Levert and (what turned out to be, with the cancer diagnosis) 2 2nds to Indy, for Oladipo, whom they routed to Miami for expiring Bradley/Olynyk, and rights to swap a 1st next year?

I foresee a lot of Butler at the 4 in the playoffs, in order to get plenty of minutes for Oladipo, Herro, Robinson, etc.

Or should have just taken Ben Simmons.

Funny thing is I don't think the 4 picks they got from Brooklyn, plus now the 4 swaps, would get you in the conversation for Simmons.

Here’s my personal theory: the bones of Dipo to the Heat had been agreed to for a bit. Raps and Heat were negotiating Lowry which would’ve been a three teamer. Raps dump players to get ready for that deal. Lowry falls apart. I think Heat balked. Rockets and Heat do the smaller deal.

They basically play positionless basketball if they have 3 of Butler, Herro, Dragic, Oladipo, Iguodala and Nunn on the floor. All those guys can guard multipe positons, create and play off the ball.
