POR out/in: Nurkic, Simons, DJJ, 2022 FRP (top 10 prot.) for Morris, Zubac
BOS out/in: Walker for Nurkic, DJJ, Kennard
LAC out/in: Morris, Zubac, Kennard for Walker, 2022 POR FRP (top 10 prot), Simons
Seems like a slight overpay from POR, but they do turn one starter into two starters. BOS has to take on Kennard, but it's cheaper than Walker. LAC get their point guard and replenish their picks and get a young guy.

POR out/in: Nurkic for Morris
BOS out/in: Smart for Nurkic
LAC out/in: Morris for Smart
Simpler version of above, only if BOS wants to move Smart - which I don't know if they do.

Morris is a terrible contract.

Oh! I admittedly haven't watched the Clips hardly at all this year. I might be inappropriately high on him.

What I saw was eFG of 59% and 40%+ from 3, big body, not great DBPM, but okay DWS. Might he be an upgrade to their current options (DJJ, Melo)?

It would also reduce the pressure to get a wing in a CJ trade. Or, lower the quality of wing in a CJ trade maybe?

Probably. I think he's so bad in pressure situations, though, that he undermines what good he does on the court.

Nurk had to call protective services when guarding Jokic. How is he supposed to deal with Embiid or stay on the court with the Nets?

What a take.

Guy has trouble handling mvp in single coverage.

Weak sauce.

He wasnt even that bad against Joker and even conceding that, his team defense was still integral in PDX winning or even keeping it close. He is great at hedging / showing on screens and finds a way to be in position to contest near every shot.

He he grabbier than a creepy drunk uncle though.

Magic would love Simons but I am not sure there is an offer to be had. Shame because I think he could be a world beater if he wasn't behind CJ and Dame.

D'Antoni isn't a front-runner. His people just made it known that he is interested in the position.

Sounds a lot like his connection to the Indy job last year. There were no reports that he was brought back for final interviews, and he may not have even ended up a finalist, but reports were rampant for a long time that “Indy coveted D’Antoni” or the like. He’s got a very active, and generally effective, agent.

Do you think a team with Nurk at center is going to seriously compete with the best teams in the East? If he were ON one of them, like the Nets, that's one thing. But to put him out there as your horse... I don't trust it.

So your solution is to downgrade to Zubac?

That’s gonna be a hard no for POR.

Who said Zubac? Zubac can be a piece for sure, but that means POR would be getting value somewhere else.

So far the best swaps I came up with were Chicago in a deal for Vuc (I think compensation has to head to CHI in that case) but that does not really address the defensive hole. The other option would be Steven Adams where values comes back. In that event, I don't think Simmons has to be part of it.

Here's a scenario. Dinwiddie and DeAndre Jordan for the trio.
Jordan might be washed, but Dinwiddie is starting-level. Nets can't afford him so would be lucky to get some value back.

Yet somehow fill none of our needs.

Maybe BKN should move that value to a team that wants them. POR doesnt.

If they go full rebuild I'd consider something around Wiseman from GS. Would have to be a 3-teamer if Portland wants to win now.

If I'm Dallas I'm shopping Kleber hard and keeping Powell. Kleber has gotten manhandled by LAC last 2 post seasons. If you can package he and KP for a team that needs outside shooting bigs for some more physical/agile bigs to roll harder off Luca, do it.

Maybe a big shake up trade:
PTL out: Nurkic, CJ, DJJ, NPowell
PTL in: KP, Hardaway, Kleber, Caulie-Stein, TBurke, JRich

Why?
PTL: Better straight floor spacer in Hardaway over CJ to open up lanes for Dame; same for Kleber/KP legit spot up perimeter threat; KP/Hardaway get more touches than Dallas with solid hockey-assist Covinton; Caulie-Stein defensive athletic big PTL sorely missed last year; TBurke/Kleber/JRich defined bench players -- Dallas hurt themselves playing them starter minutes -- they will thrive more off the bench

Dame/Simons/TBurke
Simons/JDame/JRich
Hardaway/JRich/Covington
Covington/Kleber/NLittle
KP/Cauley-Stein/Kleber

DAL: Nurkic legit half-court post relieves Luca and doesn't mind playing slower; CJ relieves Luca being able to play legit playmaker for bonafide minutes (better there than Hardaway who was streaky); DJJ less fickle than JRich and brings same athletic wing D; Powell with CJ brings the consistent O/D and hustle and speeds up the offense when needed and runs. Luca can take legit breaks and not worry about offense falling off a cliff due to mental focus (CJ and Powell are solid vets and Nurkic a bonafide stat stuffer threat hence big upgrade at C versus KP's AWOL act for 2 seasons).

Luca/Brunson
CJ/DJJ/JGreen
NPowell/DJJ
DFS/DPowell
Nurkic/DPowell

Players on both teams need a change of scenery and playing style relative to the top dog. This addresses a lot of both.

Not touching KPs contract without serious compensation and this doesn’t qualify.
