Seems odd for the Cavs unless a Sexton trade is happening
Exactly here. Like it for Minnesota.
I liked Prince but I guess this was another Drummond situation where the price was so low we had to bite?
Uh the Drummond price wasn't low at all. You took on an addition huge year. This is a solid value deal for Cleveland. That absolutely was not and we all knew it at the time.
John Henson, Brandon Knight and a 2nd was what we gave up for him. I definitely think that that package is of much lower value than Prince + 2nd.
Rubio is definitely better than Drummond but I think in both cases we got them for basically scraps.

You are suggesting that Drummond was roughly neutral value then like Rubio is now. That could not have been more false. He was a very bad contract when Cleveland traded for him. But this is a derail so we can drop it lol.

How does this mean Sexton is gone? That makes no sense at all. It's closer to signaling Garland is gone than Sexton.

Finally get a good backup PG I guess. Not an exciting trade, but I'm okay with this.

Ahh, makes more sense with the 2nd going the other way.

Rubio may have a little extra value off court, providing team-first leadership and good mentor for young players.
Kind of why I wouldn’t have minded keeping him one more year as an investment in Anthony Edwards.

Gotta give my boy Krawczynski title credit since Woj fumbled so hard.

Seriously though, this trade makes me sad, but getting a $4.8MM TPE, second, a forward, and shaving payroll is understandable. I feel absolutely horrible for Ricky, he is an unbelievably good dude.

This makes me think the Cedi+Nance rumour was real but completely garbled.
I imagine Cedi+Nance for Rubio was a thing but they couldn't resolve pick compensation and instead went with Prince.

Woj isn’t off to a great start tonight, sources say.

Thus ends the endless Rubio to Chicago trades, none of which I ever liked.

Sad because Ricky just keeps getting tossed around but its great for Minnesota. Positional fit, small TPE to absorb something meaningful, future 2nd and out of the tax.

I like this for MIN if they are the one getting the 2nd (and maybe a good one if Beal gets moved). I agree with the others that Sexton may be slightly more likely to be moved than he was previously.

So much for the 'Edwards really wants Rubio to stay' line.
