Why pay this man the contract last year just to trade him attached with a good second? Detroit sometimes baffles me.

For Charlotte- dude can play a little - get a nice second as icing - no reason not to like this move

guess I'm done posting trades.

Love this for Charlotte. And some vindication that I thought the asking price on him was too high.

This probably sums up my feelings towards Charlotte better than I expressed them. The deal is fine in a vacuum. Fills a need and excellent value. But while Plumlee can start on a playoff team like the Nets or the Clippers, Charlotte just doesn't have that level of talent.

the plan is to get as good as quickly as possible....I fully believe we could have been a borderline playoff team last year by adding young veterans....using or draft picks and cap space.....can I specifically tell you who? no.

Good deal for Charlotte. Not sure the reason for Detroit. Does this give them cap space?

After we waive CoJo and McGruder, yes, it does.

I’m at the point where I’m acknowledging the positives of the Weaver regime, but there’s no denying he got off to an abysmal start in terms of cap management.

Head scratcher to be sure here. I’m not sure what we need the cap space for.

How much capspace does Detroit have now?

Nope, after we waive CoJo and McGruder we would have around the same money as the MLE in cap space, now we have some real cap space, and considering last season we siged Plumlee with cap space and this season we had to pay to get out of his contract, I don't think having cap space is a good thing for us.

Can a Piston fan help me out on this, why didn't the Pistons keep Wood instead of signing Plumlee?

I totally don't get this move for Detroit, they seem to be clearing space for a big signing. Great deal for the Hornets.

Because Weaver wanted a clean start, the only player on the roster that wasn't acquired by Weaver is Sekou Doumboya, everybody else is gone. He wanted this to be his team, so he gave away talent to accomplish that. Very stupid if you ask me, but that's what happened.

The Pistons should just deal Grant now. With the Griffin dead cap, the Pistons are just going to focus on player development and win 20-25 games. Just deal Grant for future assets/expiring contract(s)

Welcome to “life as a pistons fan since Weaver took over”. There’s going to be a lot of transactions with the pistons involved. It’s like Weaver gets a $10,000 bonus per transaction.

Trade in a vacuum, I don’t get this at all. I’m going to stick with my plan of Weavers first offseason, of just waiting to see how this plays out.

But I swear to god if we trade for taurean prince (or someone similar) just to waive him I’m going to be quite a bit ****** ***!

The value is about right - Plumlee's a moderately overpaid meh rotation center. More of a $5M/yr type of guy. So it should take a little incentive to move him for cap space.

I don't really like the direction for either team.

What's Detroit's cap space plan? Using even a high 2nd for a win-now cap space move feels premature.

For Charlotte, center is the easy position to fill if you're just going for Plumlee level. Keep the bigger chunk of cap space to see what deals might happen.

Read on Twitter
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

This is great for Charlotte, but even better for Kings fans. Start filling up the center holes!

Yeah, it seems like not signing Mason to begin with is a better way to procure that cap space than this.

Plus now I’m going to start having Dennis Schroeder nightmares.
