I would think so, otherwise why wouldn't the rockets just take the pick and Sumner and keep a million dollars in space under the tax? only a touch over $3M below it after the Sekou move, guess we'll find out when the Sumner Dela is doneTexas Chuck wrote:K_chile22 wrote:Are there protections on the second the pacers sent? IDK, but if there are protections on that Indy pick, it makes the Nets decision to make that deal even more perplexing.

Who knows. We haven't heard of Indy adding any protections on that pick. The pick from Miami is unprotected to Indy, at this point. So maybe Indy dealt a "lesser of Indy/Miami pick" protection on it?
The Rockets could have made a similar, less costly deal with Indiana, saving about $1 million in salary they would have spent for a player they were not keeping. They opted for the more expensive deal because the pick is completely unprotected while the Indiana pick would have come with some protections that would have made it possible that it would not have been conveyed at all.

Weird. It’s an unprotected 2nd that we own. Guess they’re saying Indy protected it for this deal, which maybe.

Trade went through. It’s an unprotected, unconditional 2025 Miami 2nd.

Oh, where'd you see that? conflicts with Indiana's press release

Scott Agness. He’s essentially the biggest mouthpiece beat writer of the Pacers front office.

Guess we’ll have to see it come across the wire.
According to the draft pick tracker here on real gm it is top 37 protected and does not roll over if it doesn't convey in 2025Scoot McGroot wrote:K_chile22 wrote:Scoot McGroot wrote:
