Kenrich isn't worth an unprotected 1st. OKC would need to eat some major salary for that.
I could see this, though:
Dozier (out), 2022 DEN 1st top 10 prot, then 2 2nds
for
Kenrich, 2023 DEN 1st lotto prot
Makes the 2023 first tradable at the draft.

If Denver did this could they package the 2023 1st and 2027 1st in a bigger trade?MoneyTalks41890 wrote:Kenrich isn't worth an unprotected 1st. OKC would need to eat some major salary for that.

Only at the draft if they pick conveys. If the 2nds convey then whenever that determination is made from a league perspective I think.

I think there are a few primary differences:
-Hampton had FRP value with the added upside of being able to play immediately
-Harris was only a few months removed from being seen as one of the key playoff pieces for Denver, notably receiving a lot of credit for coming back from injury and helping spark the 3-1 comeback vs Utah. He has a bad contract, but I’d guess the Magic thought they could trade him later for a different bad contract and extract value.
This was in addition to the FRP.
In this instance, its just the pick. However, I likely undersold the caliber of player Denver could get back [I think back to the Celtics trading Jeff Green to Memphis for a distant FRP with declining protections].
Possible targets I think are in the value range:
-T Ross
-Kenrich Williams
-Olynyk
I think guys like Barnes, Grant and Murray would net back a lot more value than this pick, IMO.
Yeah Kenrich for the pick and a higher outgoing salary to save money seems like the kind of deal you're looking at. Maybe like an Eric Gordon type?
Yea there's no way in hell Denver is trading a 1st that far out for a guy averaging 6ppg on a terrible team, I think both of you are way off on the value of a 1st round pick.
I don't think Denver should trade this pick because it's value isn't great. Your basically looking at Orlando, Detroit, Houston, New Orleans and OKC as the only teams that trade current talent for a pick that far out. You're not getting Wood, Ingram, Zion or any young talent from those teams. If you find something left after that worth making the trade over then please prove me wrong.

I think there's a ton of room between TRoss, Kenrich, Kelly O and Wood, Ingram, Zion.
No one is giving an unp pick for those first guys. 2nds at best.

That's my point... who are you getting from those teams that is worth that pick, but also can't get a better pick in return from another team? The pick has more value to Denver at that point.

They do. That's a good one I think.
Jamychal Green, 2027 1st for Shlomo, Konchar

I could see it with his upcoming free agency and hence bigger pay day, maybe Memphis just sneakily adds another pick.
Is that enough for Denver though?

The Grizzlies gave up a lightly protected future pick for Jeff Green— thats my best guess at a comparison here.

Can Denver afford to re-sign him after inking MPJ, Murray, Jokic and Gordon to massive deals? I dont think they can go that far into the tax.

Jeff Green in 2015 was a starter and averaging 17 ppg. Denver also got Jerami Grant from OKC for a 1st rd pick. A 1st should net you a solid starter easily, not bench players on terrible teams LOL.SmartWentCrazy wrote:MoneyTalks41890 wrote:NYG wrote:

Who would you say is on a team that could/would make a move like this, but also couldn't get a better pick from another team? I'm just not seeing the market and think you're just better off keeping the pick.

I could see guys like Covington, Kyle Anderson as mentioned above, maybe a guy like Collin Sexton cause of the injury?

I'm not sure, but it would probably cost them Barton. I would hope the Nuggets could keep Murray, Barton, MPJ, Gordon, Jokic, Anderson, and Bones somehow. Then just fill the roster with minimum bigs and specialists.

Jeff Green was only a starter because that Celtics team was rebuilding and just lost KG and Pierce. He wasnt good and just spammed volume stats at a league average clip.
Denver got Grant for a FRP immediately, not one 5 years in the future.
Again, as stated, there really isnt a good market for Denver to get what they want. They should keep the pick because its not worth the risk. No need to give me a mocking ‘LOL’ because you disagree.
Edit: Kelly Olynyk averaged 14-7-3 on 61% TS last year and started the majority of them— why are you scoffing at him exactly?

Re: Best player Denver could get for an unprotected 2027 1st rd pick???
Tim Connelly has had some excellent late round draft picks. As a result of some of those picks, Denver will be carrying 3 max contracts next season. Therefore, in the future they need to find ways to fill the roster with players they can afford. Late round draft picks are affordable and fill that bill, if they have a roster spot.
Bones Hyland looks like a player and maybe there is no longer a need for a 3 and D specialist.
I don't think they trade a pick unless there is an obvious immediate need.

Canned in Denver.

If he comes back, Rui Hachimura could be available. Still on rookie deal, 2 year starter, combo forward, though not a wing. Thinking as Washington, we'd rather trade Kuzma or Bertans but then we have to work out the money part of the deal as both have significant contracts.
