if i'm CLE i'll take Romeo's $5M+ next year off your hands for you. not really going to get much back though, probably a 2nd, Valentine, and Pangos (combined $500k cap hit next year).

more important, Brown should be getting something you want back rather than picks and prospects. he should net you a high end starter.

Short of a Jaylen Brown trade, the questions are what you can get other than expirings for their mid-level assets. Smart, Josh, Schroeder, maybe Juancho and Horford. And their TPE.

Only thing I've come up with is Schroeder to the Bulls for their run and Coby White coming back, who's a huge bust risk but has had his moments.

I think you would have to add value to swap Schroeder for White. White has another cheapish year locked in. If Schroeder wants more than 120% of his current salary then the Bulls cannot resign him for that and he likely walks for more money.

Depends on whether the Bulls smell blood/see red this year. And it depends on how White looks. Guy's been talked about as a future star and a bust, it's a tough judgment call. Had one great scoring game a couple of weeks ago and then went back to being a zero.

Ingles would likely be acceptable because he is an expiring.

Clarkson has future money and would be a strong candidate to be redirected to a third team. The third team would be expected to absorb Clarkson into their team salary or send the least amount of salary possible to Boston.

I have

    * Brown with a huge amount of positive value
    * R Williams is hard to determine because it depends on the opinions of other teams in regards to his durability going forward
    * Smart is neutral to likely negative value
    * Richardson is probably neutral value to maybe slightly negative
    * Horford definitely has a negative contract

Some of the positive value from Brown is going to be lost in a salary dump of Horford. Other than Brown, I don't see that much value for Boston to squeeze out of this chosen path in regards to reducing the team salary and reshaping the roster. If Boston would be more agreeable in regards to taking some future salary back, then they would have to take less of a discount on the players that they are sending out.

If the goal is Beal…why not offer Brown for Beal now?

As a Suns fan, I'd take Smart as he'll be useful in the playoffs with his intangibles. I'd offer both of our Cams for him and Grant Williams. Celts would have to take Dario to make the cap work as well.

Eh, they're not dealing for cap space but I'd be interested to know what other teams could send to Boston for Clarkson in a three-teamer..

Rather difficult to sign Beal into Cap Space and still have a respectable team. A Sign & Trade makes more sense but needs the cooperation of Washington.

Not if Brown, Smart, J-Rich, Schroder, etc. are turned into fungible, low-salary assets like prospects and picks. Let's say the roster is cleared to a point where it's just Tatum plus 5 - 6 guys on rookie contracts (for the sake of argument, let's give them average salary of $3.5 mil). That's
Tatum - $30,351.780
6 guys - $21,000,000
Beal - $41,650,000
-------------------------
Team at $93 mil with 8 dudes, leaves $26 mil in cap space, plus the MLE and the $17 mil TPE from Evan Fournier doesn't expire until Aug 22, 2022.

Tatum, Beal, plus a $26 mil. FA (that's a Lonzo Ball, for example), supported by higher value rookie-contract players than what they have now, plus an MLE guy and whoever they can get for the TPE--That's a far better place than where the Celtics are now.

You have to waive the TPE, otherwise it counts toward your caphit in the offseason. Also, you'd only have the room MLE, not the full MLE.

This.

I'd make that trade from Washington's perspective. The Wizards are respectable this year, but they're not anywhere close to contention. They'd be better off getting younger.

The Beal era has run it's course. Beal isn't good enough to carry a team to contention as the #1 option, but he will help the Wizards win just enough games that they will never get the opportunity to acquire a #1 option to play alongside him.

not only beal eras over hes leaving and seems washed browns better which is quite shocking when i would never imagine this would happen. for celtics to accept, wizards have to accept horford in a brown beal deal and get a valuable role player like kuz back.
