It'll take contributions from the perimeter guys regardless of how good he's playing.

He was superb last season in the postseason too. Wasn't enough.

I mean he was also playing with a partially torn knee

Did you expect him to go for 50 and 25 every game? Guy played well enough for them to win, which is my point. Wasn't enough.

Beal may materialize as the right star over the next few weeks. Im not convinced Wizards finish top 10 in EC and I could see Beal being interested in playing with Harris/Embiid while Wizards dont rebuild but build around Simmons/Dinwiddie backcourt in dealing Beal.

I would understand if Morey would wait the offseason (and "waste a season") to sign prime Harden but we are talking about a player that is paste is prime, gonna turn 33 and have a terrible work ethic. I know Morey is a gambler and you need some gamble sometimes as a GM but this may be the worst idea for the sixers.

Wait a minute. Harden is currently under contract to the Nets.

Is this not clear cut tampering?

Maybe but why do it now ? If teams feel like they won’t move him before the deadline why try chase for Ben when they can spend time and resources on other deals ?

Well, let me say it like this instead. This is a win-win leak for Morey.

He tells teams it's not urgent and Ben isn't just going for the lowest price at the deadline, thus potentially increasing the current offers being made.

If no deal gets done by the deadline, Morey has preemptively planted a favorable narrative. It's not that they couldn't trade Ben, it's that the Sixers have always been waiting for the bigger fish, Harden, so no failure.

Yeah, there's no reason for Morey not to push this narrative unless they're actually tampering for Harden. Morey also knows Harden so might think this is the best way to court him, or that it doesn't matter and he's got a shot anyways at signing him. But it obviously makes sense to pressure the teams who haven't quite met the Simmons price that he's comfortable trading Simmons to get off the Harris deal and roll out a team of Maxey-Curry-Harden-Milton-Thybulle-Korkmaz-Niang-Embiid and go from there.

Simmons is an interesting fit in Brooklyn as a small ball 5. Presumably the Nets want to keep Harden even if he's leaving, but Harden, Joe Harris and Jevon Carter for Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and either Maxey or Milton (huge gap I know but this is a huge deal) and maybe picks involved works under the cap.

Simmons-Tobias-KD-Kyrie-Mills and presumably a 3 and D guy starting/finishing over Mills at times, maybe trade for a Justin Holliday type.
Where's the D?

Unless Morey or someone in the Philly organization comes out and says this then it's not tampering. It's media speculation

I just wouldn't count on being able to send Ben to Brooklyn. Based on deduction from his early-season entry into health and safety protocols, he wasn't vaccinated. I don't know if anything came out to refute that or if he has been vaccinated since, but Simmons is a big negative if he and Kyrie are both on the away-games-only plan.

So instead you need to convince Brooklyn to take a third-team package that Morey has already deemed insufficient for his less-valued player.

If BEal wants out there will be 1 team and most likely only 1 team at the top of his list.

And it isnt philly.

The funniest part of this article is Morey saying through Shams that they wouldn't do Simmons for Siakam because they already have Tobias Harris.

$30+ mil worth of salary sitting at home versus being players on the court to help Embiid win

Are the offering Tatum or Brown? If not, it is a moot point.

I really doubt that, if the idea is to win.

This board should have a running thread theme to rate each smokescreen on its own merits. 1-10 poll per smokescreen.

Smokescreen Rating. Could be abbreviated SR like OT threads. Would all allow us to identify the best ones of the season and the worst. Lol.

If this is their actual standpoint it's not a smokescreen it's just pure self delusion. Like Brooklyn is going to leap at the chance to trade Harden for a guy who hasn't played in a year.

So the interesting thing here is Shams has been the Simmons camp leaks and Woj the Sixers camp leaks when they were battling over fines.

If Shams is leaking this, does it mean that Simmons camp has been convinced of this?

In terms of next season if it goes there:
Korkmaz (and Jayden Springer?) to somewhere;
Ben Simmons to somewhere;
Harden to Philly

This works cap wise.

Now what teams would take Korkmaz, what teams would take Simmons and what incentive the Nets would require to play along are all open questions.

Simmons could go to the Nets there also, or in theory Philly could keep some incentive and send some to Nets; or send all and add more …

Same setup works with Beal.

would nets party with thy and curry? I mean that the one avenue i see nets taking. Makes them a better basketball team , sixers james harden. I dont see nets trading harden unless they get better overall.
