Feels like most of the benefit here is accruing to the Nets though, depending on the cash. If they're saving $8m, that's probably worth a second too.

I’d say maybe, but that’s on the Kings to get it done. I’m thinking maybe they scouted Edwards before his draft and see this as a free look at a player they liked.

This seems most likely. And it’s a long defensive wing, best type to take a free look at.

We never got the Gay, Love, Sessions deal some folks wanted.

Gay, Love, Sex however does still remain a possibility

Better chance if you substitute Walker Kessler for Nickeil Walker-Alexander

This right here.

Actual cost is only $1.6 million for next year and they probably folded him into the smaller TPE they needed to use anyway.

Not taking a roster space right away obviously since they are anticipating sending him to Stockton Kings (G league) under a Bobby Jackson to start.

I don't mind this for the Kings. Get a free look at him. I liked what I saw the first time seeing him. Hasn't got a chance with a lot of players in front of him. He will get a chance on the Kings if he competes on the defensive end, which I think he will.

Much better than the selling of seconds or trading back for cash.

So the TPE expired after tomorrow?

Is there any chance at all we could see Edwards + other salary moved for something else?

Vivek grabs a little cash at the same time?

I’m thinking that it’s seconds + the bigger TPE (@ 4.5 million) for Thybulle is what they want to do.

Edwards can’t be aggregated (have his small salary bundled into a trade to return a larger salary) for two months.

So no, this is just a “free” flier, as I’m sure Brooklyn sent the cash to cover his salary the rest of this season.

Yeah, that is a lot of cash for taking a 2nd rounder on an expiring contract with rfa rights paid close to nothing.

Agreed. That’s a solid profit.

He has potential to be a rotation level 3&D wing.

Started some games last year and had a stretch where he was asked to guard Curry, Beal, DeRozan, etc. and he played well.

If he looked good Sac wouldn’t have received him and cash.

It's because the trade comes with ~$8M in savings for the Nets. Thats a LOT of value & Kings are getting compensated for that

That no one would beat the Kings offer suggests his league value is pretty much dead salary.

I agree the Nets had a good reason to dump him, but they looked for the best offer and found this.

He played at Pepperdine so probably. I like Kessler. I think with the right coach and opportunity he could turn into a decent role player. This saves Tsai money and gives the Nets a roster spot. SFs smoke the Kings so it’s worth a shot to give him a look.

Get them to OKC to play with Kenrich Williams, Jaylin Williams, and Jalen Williams

I'm still waiting for all of the Porter Jr brothers to play together.

Well for some reason he had a no trade clause. He’s from California and played college basketball at Pepperdine. Since the Kings are awful against wings, he has a real shot of getting some playing time and be back home. I think it’s a win for all 3. He goes home, Kings get a look at a defensive wing, and Nets save money and get a roster spot.
