The Hawks fans last season were all blaming his poor season on a hand injury. His stats don't look all that bad, but I haven't seen him play this year.

They said his poor shooting was from the pinky injury. Currently shooting a career high on 3s... Not sure why the Jazz would take him with the worst guard talent in the league. He needs that dynamic guard play to get him going.

Tbh I think Bagleys contract is worse than Collins'. Not expecting a ton to make up that difference but a single protected second is am easy no.

Which is fine. So maybe not heavily protected, but it’s also not exactly like he’s built up his value since being dealt for a future Memphis second and Rudy “I was really still in the NBA” Gay.

I’ll admit Bagley is the worse player, but it’s one year less at like 1/2 the cost. Collins contract is a lot to commit to for a guy who should probably be the 4th or 5th best starter on a team. I think he makes sense for Detroit because we honestly just need NBA talent and can afford to take a small risk on him

I just don’t see teams willing to give up multiple seconds for a guy the Hawks essentially had to give away in the offseason.

Send Collins/Sexton to the Nets for Simmons/Whitehead/Smith.
Smith expires, Whitehead has a cheap 3 years remaining, and Simmons will be entering his last year.

When we traded for him he finished a season shooting sub 30 percent from three and there were questions if the injury would cause long-term problems. That isn't the case, so I think he has rehabbed some value (not a ton, not making grandiose claims here b/c it would be disingenuous). I don't think it would take Detroit's best seconds, but two seconds + Bagley and filler is what I would be going for.

I'd do that but hate the fit for Brooklyn.

I dont remember how far under Mavs are, but think it was so little that kleber and holmes isnt enough salary to stay under and got no small contracts that we are willing to give up. Personally not a fan of collins, he is basicly a taller THJ on a bigger contract, but even I start to doubt Klebers future durability and while ive liked the minutes holmes gotten, it seems Kidd still prefers sloppyhands powell.

Personally i think mavs still should say no, they might need those 2 contracts if they gonna trade or SnT for someone this summer.

Well, if they have someone to trade for they can just trade Collins, instead. I don't think not being able to aggregate salaries is the problem for Dallas, it's just whether Collins provides a meaningful upgrade to their rotation. Depending on what they send out he can. Obviously Collins can't be broken up for trades for smaller salary players, but I don't think that's what Dallas really needs (and they could do this with Grant Williams or Josh Green next season, so don't see an issue there, either).

Holmes will be an expiring in the summer tho, which always helps if they go for an OG or siakam in a snt.

Mavs are 3.461m below luxtax according to spotrac, so might be enough. Not sure why utah would do it tho

I have Collins as a better defender then THJ and Collins would be a big help on the glass. However THJ’s outside shooting is a big help.

I agree with this idea. THJ expiring while coming off of a strong season will finally have value to any team looking outside shooting.

I never thought he fit Utah at all.

Yeah he works best at C on offense but PF on defense. Hard to find a good pairing.

Sacramento with Sabonis?
still learning the game

The fact is that I like him on the Mavs...he can play alongside Lively and back him up. I think it's a very good fit for Luka, I'm sure it would make him shine again... Maxi/Holmes+Hardy+SRP for Collins/Fontecchio.. If this happens, ideally continue moving Tim..al Magic to G.Harris/Bitadze??

I feel like he would be a great fit on the PACERS as well, with an elite playmaker and Turner giving him room in the paint to operate...although I'm not sure if the talent gap is big enough with Toppin to justify the huge difference in salary

Just not intresting. When mavs were shipping thj in the summer the plan were that hardy would take over. And moving all tradeable salary. We got 3 1sts in the summer, prefer trying to use that salary for a say og and siakam snt. Also think this is the summer some of the playin teams realizes its not worth it and blows it up so might be good players available

Isn’t Collins exactly what OKC is looking for? Floor spacing big who adds size and rebounding? I don’t know how he looks this year, but the fit next to Chet could be real.

I think he would fit just fine with JJJ in Memphis, but I don't see any way to match salaries to make it work.
