Ingram

1. Believes he's a top 10 player in the NBA
2. Refuses to take threes
3. HATES when he isn't viewed as the main star
4. Has been around a 100 TS+ for most of his career
5. Plays a playstyle that translates terribly to the playoffs (as he's just a much worse version of DeRozan)
6. Would require most of Philly's good picks.
7. Is always hurt

Wel they have the opportunity to build around Embiid and Maxey through free agency. Could possibly get two near max guys along with those two. They need to be choosy. No more Tobias Harris type guys.

I think LBJ wants to stay in L.A., but the Lakers are limited in what they can do to put a better team around him. Signing with Philly is his best shot at another ring and I suspect the siren's song of another ring proves too much to resist.

Philadelphia will have around $65m in cap space, but they'd have to release the cap holds that Melton, Paul Reed, and Springer. That would mean they would all sign somewhere else. If they choose to keep them, that would cut down Philadelphia's cap space to around $40m. The Magic might be able to keep Banchero, both Wagners, Wendell, Suggs, Cole, Black, Jett, and Isaac, and still give Paul George $49m.

What will they do? Probably go all out trying to bring in a 3rd star.

What should they do? Target solid 3 and D guys for the 2-4 slots. When you have 2 guys who can average 60 ppg combined, you don't need another big time scorer. You need guys who will do the dirty work, play defense, and shoot at a high level.

Springer has already been traded. No longer an issue for them.

I think you keep Paul Reed and cap holds for Melton (15 m) and Maxey (13 m). That leaves plenty to try to land Paul George. If successful then you max Maxey and try to bring back Melton unless you can do better than Melton with another free agent. That leaves a lot of holes to fill with ring chasers. Need a big wing with 3 and D skills and additional perimeter D and maybe a scorer off the bench.

IMO going after Paul George and paying him big money would be a big mistake for Orlando, his age and injuries and production are only going one way

I can't imagine PG13 wanting to go to Philadelphia over the Clippers unless Ballmer really lowballs him.

why? The clippers have won nothing and there getting old. No reason to think they will ever win a title with the currant roster.

The Sixers have won nothing, Embiid is 30, and they were a play-in team that made it in thanks to Nic Batum going unconscious for a game. What reasons would you have to think the Sixers have a better chance than the Clippers?

Taking the Clippers thing out of the equation, it's a bit disingenuous to dismissively say the Sixers have "won nothing" as if it's a single monolithic entity when Embiid/Maxey/tons of cap space is easily the best situation they've had outside of the one year they had Butler/Redick (and no bench whatsoever).

This is definitely not the time to move Embiid - it's the time to let Morey do what he's paid to do with a largely blank canvas aside from 2 bonafide stars.

I think you've hit what really is the fundamental question - do they go try to get another star and do the "Big 3" thing or do you maintain some flexibility and build a deeper roster around your 2 stars so your team doesn't die when your bench plays, as has often been the case. I hope they do the latter, but have no idea what Morey thinks.

The Sixers have had tons of cap space or stars or both many times. This is not new. There's a reason they ended up paying Al Horford $30 mil. a year and it's not because premium FAs are clamoring to go to Philly to play next to Embiid.

I think Paul George is the #1 option by a large amount. He is an ideal fit and a veteran who wants to win. Pascal Siakam is a clear #2 option for them in Free Agency.

Now, if they miss out on Paul George or Pascal Siakam, I think they should avoid any possible "larger fish" and really try and get the best possible players along side Maxey/Embiid in terms of fit.

Sign Kentavious Caldwell Pope [3/54]
Sign Kyle Anderson [2/20]
Sign Derek Jones Jr [3/40]
Resign Nicolas Batum [1/6]

This uses up $47 Million of their &65 Million in space. They can still go after a bigger fish or do something like trading Paul Reed and a 2nd for Bruce Brown.

I mean, that's just not accurate. They blew a FA wad on Tobias Harris once otherwise, no, they have not had cap space freedom as was reflected in their consistently awful bench. The Harden they got was not what Maxey is so outside of the 1 year they were on the cover of SI with Redick/Butler, they haven't had this position at the top of their roster.

Embiid has playoff questions to answer so I'm not disputing that, but this is most definitely not the usual offseason circumstance. It may not work as it requires a lot of spaces to fill, but this is easily the best starting point they've had to work from.

I think keep those cap holds until you can do better. Reed is a perfect back up big and positive contributor on a fair contract, if you can sign Meltin for a fair deal it seems like holding onto his cap hold makes sense unless there is a better option. He is a solid young role player that contributes to winning and plays good D to compliment Maxey.

Where does Embiid make sense? What is even his value right now?

Knicks for Robinson/Knicks picks

I mean, GS would definitely empty the clip for Embiid.

CP3/GP2 (expiring filler) + Kuminga + Podz + 2 firsts + 4 swaps for Embiid

Embiid/TJD/Looney
Draymond
Wiggins
Klay/Moody
Curry

Fill out the rest of the roster with vet min ring chasers.

Is that enough to get him? Probably not. But it's at least one offer you have to beat.

The only team that can trade for Embiid is OKC.

Embiid, the reigning MVP, was the frontrunner for MVP before injuring his knee this season. His injury history is obviously a valid concern but why would a team who was clearly top-5 in the league when healthy declare an era "over" and push the rebuild button around an offer that does nothing but make them a treadmill team with a large quantity of low quality picks? He's still clearly in his prime.

I'm not even speaking about this offer in particular, just moving him right now for something that isn't the type of Godfather offer OKC could put together if they so chose (but likely wouldn't)? What's the upside other then generating RealGM conversation?
