Miami Heat

Terry Rozier / Josh Richardson / Josh Christopher*
Tyler Herro / Duncan Robinson / Pelle Larsson
Jimmy Butler / Jaime Jaquez / Alec Burks
Nikola Jovic / Kevin Love / Haywood Highsmith / Keshad Johnson*
Bam Adebayo / Kel'el Ware / Thomas Bryant

Isaiah Stevens - E10

*Two-way contracts

I fully expect Tyler Herro to be moved before the start of the season, and I look for Cole Swider to either be added as a 3rd 2-way or as the 15th guy (we need to make a trade to not hit 2nd apron)

Golden State Warriors (as of 7/10)

Draymond Green / Trayce Jackson-Davis / Kevon Looney
Jonathan Kuminga / Kyle Anderson / Gui Santos
Andrew Wiggins / Moses Moody / Lindy Waters III
De'Anthony Melton / Buddy Hield / Gary Payton II
Stephen Curry / Brandin Podziemski

I'd guess more like:
Podz/Melton
Curry/Heild/Payton
Wiggins/Moody/Waters
Draymond/Kunminga/Santos
TJD/Anderson/Looney

I'm listing Curry at SG to highlight that I feel that Heild will largely be his backup - so one elite shooter is on-court all the time. Podz or Melton covering the other guard spot providing better defense than either Heild or old Curry (both being combo guards). Draymond, Anderson and (to a lesser degree) others will also provide PG skills from the frontcourt.

I guess the plan is for TJD to start but play low/backup level minutes (common for Warriors starting centers). Anderson will primarily be an undersized backup center. Looney and Draymond also getting a few center minutes.

I would like to see a 3rd string level emergency pg for depth but the team may want to stay at 14.

OKC Thunder with projected minutes

01 SGA (32) / Wallace (16) + TW signing Adam Flagler (sparingly)
* SGA primary 1, and Wallace is primary backup.

02 Dort (24) / Caruso (14) / Joe (10) + TW signing Ajay Mitchell (sometimes)
* Dort and Caruso defend the best offensive player, and Joe plays for offense occasionally. OKC will want to get reps for Mitchell in RS.

03 Jalen Williams (24) / Caruso (10) / Wiggins (10) / Dillon Jones or Ajay Mitchell (4)
* Jalen Williams starts, but leads the bench unit and there's more switching of the rotation at the 3.

04 Holmgren (22) / Jalen Williams (16) / Kenrich Williams or Ousmane Dieng (10)
* Holmgren starts at the 4, but Hartenstein and he switch off at C, Jalen Williams will play lots of Point-Forward.

05 Hartenstein (28) / Holmgren (12) / Jaylin Williams (8)
* I expect Hartenstein, the biggest FA signing for OKC, to start, and quick rotations with Holmgren and Hartenstein throughout the game, and matchup-based rotations in the 4Q.

TW signings
PG Adam Flagler
SF Alex Ducas
SG Ajay Mitchell

IR:
PG Nikola Topic (ACL)

OKC has one open roster spot.

I don’t think Jalen playing 40 mins though.

SGA (30) / Wallace (16) - 46 mins (2mins)
Dort (26) / Caruso (6) / Wallace (8) - 40 mins (8mins)
Jalen (12) / Caruso (20) - 32 mins (16mins)
Chet (10) / Jalen (18) - 28 mins (20mins)
IH (28) / Chet (20) - 48 mins

46 mins to spread amongst the top 7 taking slightly more minutes or slotting in Joe/Wiggins/Kenrich/Jaylin.

So top 7 players on average.
30 mins - SGA, Jalen , Chet
24-28 mins - IH, Caruso, Dort, Wallace

Roster - (14)
PG - SGA , Wallace , Ajay Mitchell (TW rookie)
SG - Dort , Caruso, Joe
SF - Jalen , Wiggins , Dillon Jones (Rookie)
PF - Chet , Kenrich , Dieng
C - IH , Jaylin

TW - currently Adam Flagler/Alex Ducas ( I expect one of them to be cut for a two way big)

injured - Topic (Rookie)

Needs
- better big depth PF/C
- if we are going 15 on roster then probably a SF/PF kind of role
- OR backup ball handler (but this is a trade deadline target) we just try and give everyone more opportunity with the ball in the interim ( Jalen/Chet/Wallace) with Caruso/IH helping to move the ball around as well.

My gut says that Melton starts over Podz because Kerr loves vets, but this all makes sense to me.

It probably makes more sense to break down the roster into roles/position groups rather than a traditional depth chart, i.e.:

Guards - Steph, Melton, Podz, Hield

True wings - Wiggins, Moody, GP2, Waters

Big wings - Kuminga, Anderson, Santos

Bigs - Draymond, TJD, Looney, (Post)

Are you two talking about starters or who plays the most minutes? They may not be the same thing.

Hornets could go a few different ways.

PG: Melo/Micic/Simpson (2W)
SG: Mann/Green/NSJ/Curry (Mann or Green could easily start)
SF: Miller/Salaun/Martin
PF: Bridges/Grant Williams/Diabate (2W)
C: Mark Williams/Richards/Taj

or

PG: Melo/Micic/Simpson (2W)
SG: Miller/Mann/NSJ/Curry
SF: Bridges/Green/Martin
PF: Grant Williams/Salaun/Diabate (2W)
C: Mark Williams/Richards/Taj

I think the top rotation is what they go with, but I think we should roll with the bottom one and take advantage of having big wings. Still have a full roster spot and a 2W spot to use.

I think the Knicks start the season with the below 9 man rotation:

Starters: Brunson/Bridges/Anunoby/Randle/Robinson

Bench: McBride/DiVincenzo/Hart/Precious

Assume Brunson/Bridges are playing 35 MPG. Robinson/Precious split 48 minutes at C. Anunoby and Randle at 32 MPG. Leaves 13 MPG for Duce at backup PG and about 45 minutes to split between DDV/Hart backing up 2-4.

Obviously you expect that Anuoboy will miss time, and during those games you have an extra 32 MPG to split between Hart/DDV - with maybe some extra minutes for McBride or some filler minutes for Diop.

I think Kolek has a chance to take McBride's minutes as he's more of a playmaker than Duce and the offense really slowed down in the non-Brunson minutes last season. The best case scenario for the team is Kolek being impressive enough to take Duce's minutes.

Ideally, a Duce for front court depth opportunity presents itself around the deadline. And really (outside of upgrading from Randle as the #2 scorer) the weak point on the team is Mitch's durability. Precious is fine as a 18-20 MPG backup C, we just can't rely on Mitch for 30MPG for a full season.

I think the Wolves have a very good top seven. That doesn’t seem like enough, but these days with financial restraints, championship teams struggle to have a good top five. The Wolves will need Dillingham to contribute from Day One, a lot to ask of any rookie.
