Spurs aren't trading #2 for a 30 yr old.

#3 for KD is a "nah son" from me. I could maybe see like a trade down deal where the Sixers pick up an asset and then flip the trade down pick for KD.
For instance, if New Orleans wants to give me Herb Jones to swap #3 for #7, you could talk me into PG+7 for KD giving you a legit title contender if you can get a 60 game season out of Embiid.
Anyway... In general, this just feels way too big to work.
The Bucks and Spurs figure out something straight up.
I had no idea Justin Edwards was such a prize. Just needed the salary.

I didn’t even notice that the biggest piece going to Milwaukee for Giannis is 3. The Sixers are just here to pay for someone else to get the star. The argument is that this sounds like a Morey deal?

We will have to disagree on that.
How does that make sense for the youngest team in the league to do? If the #2 pick was 2019 Morant or 07 KD would it be smart to trade it for a 30 yr old Giannis? Please try to look at the trade from both teams perspectives.
Plus if Giannis is traded it's because he's asked out, which is going to lower his price substantially.

I didn't even notice lifting Justin Edwards either.
You guys are likely looking at a Randle/filler/17 package, or KAT.
KD isn't the needle mover like he used to be.
Steel from the Sixers for the Suns? Wow man. This is just a trade idea. Justin Edwards is salary, feel free to invert any salary into that slot.
Randle was better than Markkanen last season and there isn’t a huge difference between 17 and 14 so I think this return is in that ballpark for the Suns. I’d value Lauri more because of age and skill set but not a lot.

That Morey would like to salvage another title run or two with embiid.

That's a dead horse. Nothing to salvage.

You’re not interested in listening to what people who follow the team and reporting closely are telling you, so it is what it is.
Let me just ask you this. If that’s the track he chooses, why wouldn’t he just leverage himself to the gills and go for Giannis if his asset is the centerpiece? In this scenario, there’s no tomorrow. He’s got multiple valuable future picks to add to 3 too. He’s got young Guards with trade value. This is the same guy who let Ben Simmons sit at home and then punted on a prime Embiid year or two to add Paul George. Now he’s so impatient that he wants to pay 3 to dump the same player and what he’s getting back is yet another chronically injured vet? Doesn’t pass the most basic of sniff tests.

This draft sucks. castle, 3, and 5 are “potential” roleplayers and busts. Not a championship core. Not trading Giannis for weak draft picks. Only player in this draft I am interested in is Cooper Flagg so not even #2 changes it. Next years draft is much better and Bucks will have other options as well.

Implying Giannis is aged is laughable, we don’t want that poopoo platter anyways. Lmao “and two good roleplayers!”

Re: Spurs Land Giannis & KD to Philly
I get why Philly fans are saying no to a deal like this. I would in your shoes as well. My question though is do you really think Morey says no to a deal like this? From an outside perspective he seems like the ultimate win now big swing for the fences type of guy and would possibly do a deal like this.
I try to always think like the GM (based on their history) and the financial implications of what the owner would say (are they cheap or do they spend) and give my personal thoughts but also consider would my GM do a deal like this? And again, from an outsider perspective Philly dealing away the #3 pick in an open eastern conference (especially if Giannis gets shipped out) seems like a move he would do. And if Embiid was healthy next playoffs they could win a chip with the parity of the league. I think next year is quite frankly the best and last chance Philly has to get a chip with Embiid and probably Moreys last chance as the GM to prove himself.
So your bias aside Philly fans. Do you think Morey would absolutely not do a deal like this? Cause I’m not so sure.

Oh it’s an absolute monster of a deal. I get where you’re coming from but this would have to be appealing for Morey.
I was trying to be flippant, but it didn't work in print. So I edited. What I'm trying to say is the deal is awful for Philly. Any plans made with Joel in mind are bad ones.
So you are good trading Embiid to build without him? It seems he's good enough when he plays that you either build to win with him or deal him and try to rebuild.

Yes. You’re missing three things.
One, he probably isn’t as low on Paul George as it would take to do something like this. He’s not one to swing wildly based on one year no matter how bad it was. Two, there’s no one reasonable on the planet who thinks Embiid being healthy is likely. Theoretically possible, yes. Sure enough to bet 3 OA on it is quite a bar. Finally, he’s drafted extremely well with the Sixers. Selling the city and org on Maxey + McCain + 3 has a non-zero chance of working and I would argue a significantly higher one than going all in because you don’t need to show results immediately. That’s within the scope of saving his job, not winning a title.
Most of these arguments are specifically not saying he’s guaranteed to make a pick at 3, although the reporting has been consistent that they know they can’t patch this like a vet trade would require. What I keep saying in all of these threads is that it makes no sense to dilute the value of 3 by attaching PG’s contract. Completely different discussion. I can’t rule out there being a trade that involves 3 going out and Troy Murphy coming back that he would do for example. Durant, yes. I really can just say it’s not happening.

Give the bucks 2,3 *and* 5 then we'd probably be interested
hell no currently
lol at not even getting the best asset in the trade back for giving up giannis
taking on PG's horrendous contract deserves some compensation for the jazz, but not the #2 pick

Harper would go #1 in a lot of drafts, don't underrate him
