Don't understand it for the Pels at all , Not guarantee to get your guy at 23. Pacers pick top 4 protected has much better upside potential. Never know what can happen . Mavs went from the finals to landing cooper flag next season.

Probably obvious for those on this board, but from the Pacers perspective this was done in part to save on potential Luxury Tax dollars in 25/26. #23 pick comes with a $3.2M salary. Once the Pacers resign Myles Turner they'll almost certainly be in the luxury tax.

Good for Indy. And probably fine for NOP, but I’d have kept it at this return. Hali might get hurt, Turner might walk..

The deal makes sense. Saves money and a roster spot for Indy this year. For NOLA, #23 in a deep draft is likely better than Indy's pick will wind up next year.

I don't understand the Pelicans' motivations here. Wouldn't you rather have the mystery-box pick rather than the objectively mediocre pick?

I like a lot of prospects in this draft. We want to get better this season, than wait on next season.

Top 4

Thanks. The Dallas luck didn’t bother the Pels FO then.

Why now when you're still playing in the finals?

Maybe looking to add it to #7 to move up? Would WAS move back one spot for #23?

I don't want to trade up and would rather take a guy at 7 and 23 or trade back from 7 and pick up an additional 1st and draft three guys in the first round this year. Or is a team willing to take Murray with pick #23?

Idk, but there are a lot of guys who make sense for them projected to go in that range. Would love to see them get Jakucionis at 7 and then a big SG who can hit from deep like Clifford, Riley, or McNeeley at 23.

Coward? Not you, but the player.

There are some stretch 5s that will probably be available around this range (Wolf, Raynaud), so I like it for New Orleans if they plan on making the pick.

Don't understand this for the Pels, on the clock, I get it, now? I don't see the added value, Nets woild have given 26 and 38 for it.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
Fortune favours the bold, so it ducked Nico Harrison.

For the Pels it's a bird in the hand. For the Pacers, it saves a little cash, opens a roster spot for an experienced player on a small contract, and frees their future picks from Sepien restrictions.

So Chuck has to retire his trope about teams not trading for their own picks back....Here is another team doing it.

No doubting the news, but thought teams had to wait until their season ended to make trades.

He looks great on paper (stats & measurables) but the number of scouts that can vouch for him in person are going to be really small due to him playing at small schools and getting injured.

Definitely they do if they involve players under contract.

Not so sure on this type of deal though - since its only draft picks. It could easily be one that is made public now, but is not 'official' until after the Indiana/OKC series is over.

Pacers probably want to bring the entire team back and it's going to hurt financially so I understand trying to save. Jarace Walker is likely available.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change
